Default HID AFS headlights vs halogen headlight fitment

Hey guys,

So due some idiocy, one of my headlights is now out of commision. I'm looking to pick up some halogen headlights for my 08, and it seems like lot of people have ones for sale that came with HIDs and AFS.

I understand that retrofitting AFS to a car that originally didn't come with it is a cost-prohibitive en-devour, but can I bolt up these headlights to my car and just use the stock HID without any of the AFS features? Obviously the bulbs are different and they come with ballasts, but is the main connector for the headlight assembly the same?

If anybody knows this answer and could reply semi-quickly, I'd really appreciate it

check the parts catalog and see if the part number for the AFS harness is the same as the non HID harness. hope that helps.

I looked on sewell and the brackets look the same. Just wondering about the connectors which sewell doesn't show me on their parts catalog.

EDIT: Found this on sewell but having a hard time understand it. I can only find AFS components but not what the alternative halogen components would be (if they are indeed different)

Pretty sure it is considering people put the 2011-2013 HID LED headlights on their pre-facelift halogens all the time?

You're correct, the AFS wouldn't work though.

You have no problem with putting HID AFS to Halogen headlight. They are bolt right up and connector is same. I did the swap for 3 cars and all good. Not single problem!!!
You also need D4S bulbs and 2 ballast. If you want to use universal ballast, you have to cover up the bottom hole (where ballast goes)

I just tried swap my halogen headlights to a pair of hid halogen. When i powered on the headlights, the hid headlights did come on for about 20 seconds then flickered off.. This happen to the left and right light. Is there something im missing

Did you buy it use or new? Could be just the bulbs fail.

I personally swapped HID to none HID car and have zone problem with it. The only difference in the wire harness is extra wire on HID for AFS function.
