Default Some problems after trying to replace hub assembly!

Hi everyone,

The front passenger side hub assembly on our 2007 Lexus IS250 AWD was making some noise, so I decided to change it out with a friend.

Well, we couldn't even get the old one out. After an hour of trying to pry the old one out, we gave up and put the whole thing back together. But, once I started the car back up, some problems occurred.

The ABS, VCD, and 4WD error lights are all on. We jacked the car up and took the wheel off to make sure the sensor was connected, and it was. We drove the car around in the snow, and it performed well. There was some slipping, but only when I would hit the gas in snow.

Has this happened to anyone else while changing a hub assembly? I've looked through some older posts, but no one has mentioned that it has happened during a hub assembly job.

What is my next plan of attack? The whole thing has left me frustrated.

Thanks for any help!

The system probably recognized you had disconnected the cable at some point, and thus threw those codes. I would assume after turning off the car and back one a couple of times, ut should start to recognize it again. If not, reset the systems by disconnecting the battery for at least 15 minutes.

At what point did you get held up with the hub removal?

Thanks for the reply. I will give the battery a shot. I've driven the car for about 50 miles and have started it multiple times to no avail. The codes persist.

As for the troubles we had, it occurred when trying to get the hub assembly off. The bolts came off from the back, but the hub assembly wouldn't detach. We tried banging it out, and we trying torching it, but nothing seemed to work. We even found a suggestion online that said put the wheel back on, and try pulling at the wheel so that the hub would pop off. Nothing. Not only did we not replace the hub assembly, but we got codes to boot!

Unfortunately for me, disconnecting the battery didn't help matters.

Hmmmm, perhaps the pounding you gave the hub damaged the sensor in the hub?

Wow I sure hope not. Other than pulling the sensor out, we didn't touch it. Could it be that sensitive that it breaks from banging without being touched?

Did you take off axle nut out before trying to get the hub off?
