Post Best way to fix tpms sensors?

I currently have a 2006 is250 with factory 18 inch rims that are powder coated, H&R springs, 20mm front 25mm back wheel spacers. My low tire light and check system light went on after 20 miles of driving with my powered coated rims.(i have been driving around with the waring lights for about 2k miles now). My TPMS sensors must be broken. What is the cheapest/ best way to get rid of the warning lights? Thank you!

And i filled my tires up already to the door requirements.

If it says, Check System, then your TPMS sensor(s) might be bad. You'll have to buy new or used ones and have it programmed by Lexus or a tire shop that can do it. I would just find used OEM ones on eBay. Sometimes the aftermarket ones are meant for our cars and might not work.

1.) Buy used set. 2.) Go to tire shop to put them on and to program them to your car.

i got all new sensors put in when I replaced all new tires at discount tire.
sensors cost around $60 for each tire from discount tire.
Lexus dealership charges around $90 each tire.
Good luck

you normally don't service TPMS sensors. you just get new ones. you can try reprogramming it to see if that works. most likely not.

from what I've read and seen, the batteries in the TPMS sensors are supposed to have a 5 to 10 year lifespan, but more realistically it's closer to 6 to 8. downside is, once the battery dies, the sensor stops broadcasting its code. and no, you can't "just" crack open the sealed sensor unit to replace the battery itself.

by now, most TPMS sensors on the open market should have a half-charge left, if that. unless you have a TPMS sensor reader that can tell you how much battery power is left (this one does, but it's not cheap), there's no other way to determine how much power it's left - it's either the sensor is (still) broadcasting a code that can be picked up by the TPMS system, or it's not.

easiest way to "fix" this is to simply replace the dead TPMS sensor with another one and get it programmed to your 2IS. but unless you actually know for sure which one is dead and which one isn't, you'll have to replace all four. luckily, used TPMS sensors on the open market are a fraction of the price for a new set (or hell, even just ONE new sensor) - especially if you know who/where to buy them from.

again, ask me how I know.

edit: try finding a local tire shop that does have one of those ATEQ TPMS Sensor Reader/Programmers that I linked.

TPMS senors are supposed to be serviced whenever they are dismounted from a wheel, but it's only replacing the rubber grommet, valve core, valve cap and washer if there is one.

So I went to cost-co and just drove up to the mechanics garage and just asked nicely if they could check all my tpms sensors. And in a min they went around the whole car with a device and found that my back left tire sensor is not working but all the other 3 are. So I guess I have to buy one sensor and go somewhere to take off my tire and replace the sensor. What would the best way to go about this? I was thinking I should just get one sensor and put it in my spare and leave my back left tire alone. BTW im not even a member of cost-co and they checked all my sensors for free lol

It's a cheap fix if I were you I would just replace it into the wheel where it's not working. The most it will cost you is $50 for everyhting.

you can pick up a TPMS sensor from eBay for $25 shipped to you, if not less.
