CV boot cover. Need help
Hey guys,
Need your help, my driver side inner cv boot is ripped. I just called Lexus and they officially stopped selling cv boot cover replacement by itself. Lexus said the only option is to replace the entire shaft which will cost almost 800 CAD! (confirmed with Sewell too)... So what are my options now ? Would universal cv boot work ?

FYI - depending how bad the hole/tear is - you can fill it back up with CV grease - and use Shoe-goo to patch the hole until you figure out the parts situation. Us 4x4 guys that tear front CV's from too much angle do it. I've had shoe goo on a boot for over 2 years before without issue (it was a new axle, or I would have just swapped it out).
I used a syringe to load the boot up with grease, cleaned the boot with rubbing alcohol, then applied shoe goo.
Ghetto - yes, definitely. But it will get you by for the time being.
I've gone through about 6-8 front axles (13 years of abuse) and carry a spare half shaft with me at all times. Tacoma/ 4Runner CV's are $75.00 though.
$800.00 is absurd.

On one of my past vehicles I somehow managed to cut the boot on one of my half-shafts while installing some new suspsension components. No grease leaked, as I noticed what I did before I lowered the vehicle. I super-glued the hole up and never had an issue. Probably not the best fix for it, but is worked nonetheless.
