I see that you live in GA, probably Atlanta area? If so, just give FastLane Imports in the Marietta area a call, they're honest and will give you good info. Heck, they might not even charge you if you tell them that you're a prospective future customer.

Did they provide you with a receipt? And a list of everything that was "changed".

If not, you should head back and get it.
If so, you should go to an independent auto shop and ask if they can confirm the list by taking a look at your car.

Yes, dealership can lie to you. However, its not really in their best interest to do that, because you can get in a bunch of trouble for doing crap like that.

You bill should have a list of all the parts that they put in your car, and the person that advised you about your coolant was spot on. You should see a line item for coolant. Your coolant should look new too. If you pop the front cover to your engine bay off you can see the engine. A good mechanic will not have left scratches etc on you car, it should look clean.

I'd go back to the dealership and have the service manager show you what was done - let them show you all the pretty new parts, play dumb. If their story doesn't add up then escalate the issue.

Repair folks are not supposed to just say this or that part needs to be replaced, they're supposed to identify why the part no longer meets the manufacturer specification and go from there. Maybe the repair laws are different in your state.

If you have a community college near you that has an automotive technology program you may be able to have them check over you car. Also, AAA does vehicle checks, and they are supposed to be non biased.

I always ask for the return of the old parts. Not that I have any use for them, but if they give them to me, then they have to put SOMETHING back in its spot...

Then I look at them, ask about the wear of the item then I hand it right back to them.

After being paranoid for couple hours...

I took the car to a local shop and asked them to inspect water pump and spark plugs...

Turns out...they did replace everything...

So that's good relaxing news for me...

But still...i called Lexus dealership and asked them why they didn't wash the car like they always do after any visit...

They said that they didn't want to harm my Vossen wheels with their auto car wash...

So...I am very sorry for thinking that a Lexus dealership would lie to me...i apologize!!!

Thanks for everybody's help...

I know you guys took your popcorn out and wanted to read an exciting bad ending story...

But nothing happened...Maybe next time...

So stay tuned in to ClubLexus...u never know when something exciting might happen...especially to a drama queen like me...lol

Time to ride...peace out!!!

so the dealership at first sounded like "the murderer," but turned out to be just "sweet old lady Gladis from down the street." Almost sounded like a murder mystery.

bad karma came quickly...

coolant hose that they replaced somehow broke and coolant flew everywhere and was smoking...

so i took it back to Lexus dealership...

told them to clean everything up and fix the problem...

they gave me a loaner car till Monday...

so i packed my suitcase...time for a long road trip with their loaner car...lol

hope bad karma doesn't hit me again for putting 1000 miles on the loaner car...lol

bon voyage...

As long as you didn't drive it like that, you should be fine. If it went in to your intake or anything you would know really soon, since water doesn't compress.. Electrical components shouldn't be harmed by a bit of fluid on em.

Better check your loaner papers, mine had a 100 mile a day limit on use for free.

so if sprinkles of coolant splash into my aftermarket intake...

will this kill the engine?

and who's fault is that?

Did you drive the vehicle after knowing the coolant pipe came off or "broke"? If not, you'll be fine; if you did, it would be hard to convince Lexus to cover any major damages with them knowing you drove on it like that.

Anyhow, about the coolant spillage onto the aftermarket intake filter; I'd ask the service mgr to comp you for replacing that filter too, do to their negligence in replacing the parts in accordance with their shop manuals.
