when i had my starfire pearl 2IS prior to getting my 3ISs (now in matador red mica and atomic silver), i had to have a portion of the 2IS resprayed and the match was spot on. it's possible to have a reputable shop match the color.

My rear bumper was painted 4 time to get it right without blend in to other panels. The repair center even replaced the bumper to a brand new one after the 3rd try. They compared my car with few other white pearl IS and mine stands out with a subtle warm pink tint (only shows in certain light conditions and angles) which was a pain in the *** for the painter to match. Anyway, I'm very pleased with the result after the 4th repaint. It was almost a perfect match.

I had my hood and front bumper repainted crystal white and it looks dead on but during night at certain angle's it may appear a tad off but overall matches really good considering my car is also a 2006 which I am sure sun exposure to fenders have something to do with it.

I just got my 2014 ES 350 back from Sewell in Plano, TX and am not very pleased with the results. This was their second attempt to get the paint to match. They kept the car for two weeks and claimed to be working with the paint supplier to get a better match. When I picked up the car the first time (after a week), they had replaced te rear bumper and repainted, but the bumper had fitment issues and the paint looked light blue.

I am not sure I buy the notion that Starfire Pearl cannot be matched. You can line up 3 Lexus' from 3 different years and I will bet you cannot tell the difference between the paint jobs (assuming none have been exposed to extreme weather). Also, I purchased a set of body side mouldings from Lexus and they match perfectly.

My biggest disappointment is the use of a non-OEM bumper. I can only assume that Sewell used a Chinese knock-off because that's all GEICO would pay for (cheap bastards). OK, I can live with that, but Sewell should have revealed that to me UP FRONT and give me the opportunity to pay the difference to get an OEM bumper.

I have been without my car for 3 weeks now and have a bumper that does not fit right and still does not match, even though the paint is a better match now than the initial attempt. I should also note that our car has spent its entire life in our garage and only has 7,600 miles. It has never spent a day out in the sun.

I was just about to buy a used Lexus from a used car dealer. Carfax and Lexus service inspected and they all checked out other than a few repairs but Lexus service discoverd the rear 1/4 panel has been repainted.

From about 10 ft away in direct sunlight , you cannot tell the rear has been repainted
but now Lexus has told the used dealer the car was repainted, the used car guy took some closeups
and from 1 ft, I can now see the different pearls in the paint.

How easy is it to match a Pearl white fender ? Does anyone ever had to paint the body of the car?

I've never had any paint work done on my SFP IS350, but my neighbor has on his SFP ES350. His front bumper, hood, and one of his fenders was replaced. He insisted on OEM replacements and also ended up taking the car back twice b/c the paint looked off. Come to find, the collision center did not prime the body panels, which may have made the base coat appear a different color than it should. After they did the job properly, the paint is spot on with the rest of the car. So to answer your first question, although difficult, it can be done.

my car is glacier frost mica.. i've installed the vertex side skirts.. I think the paint looks way off, but the dude from the paintshop says it will never get better, because off the different angles and how the light is broken, it will always look off.. another painter has redone it, still not better.. hate this color for this reason.

i am thinking to wrap my car in a grey shade..

My car was Crystal white. My body shop was always able to get the paint to match 100%. I feel it really comes down to your painter. My painter actually accounts for the color aging and adjust the paint mixture to kind of mimic it. He said something about the sun causing the paint to discolor from the day it left the factory. Give or take my car was 11 years old.

Sorry to hear about your paint match issue. I too have a GFM color. I'm in the process of getting my last Ings+1 side skirts to complete my kit look. I know it isn't easy to do, but to clarify with you and your paintshop, it is definitely possible to paint match GFM. I know and talk to many owners in California, Canada, and Texas who got there Glacier Frost perfectly matched. Dont give up and keep trying. GFM discontinued color that i still get compliments on daily.

I am pretty bummed out. I was just about to pull the trigger on the SC Pebble editiin
and then I discovered from the purchase inspection the fender was repainted .
When looking straight in the sun, there were no issues but from different
angle, it became a deal breaker .

Yeah that's definitely noticeable but I guess it's the shop; my hood and fender were repainted and I cannot for the life of me tell a difference. They blended panels together and resprayed many panels with clear. It came out excellent.

no offense but Those SC's are ugly imho.. it's body lines don't flow at all

A car backed into my 2016 GX460 and did quite a bit of damage to my back bumper; the cover is quite large and when it was repainted, there was a definite difference you could tell from the side of the car. I complained immediately and the body shop had to call a Lexus paint specialist in to match it. He told them there were several formulas of the Starfire Pearl. He figured out which one I had; they mixed it and repainted the bumper; it matches perfectly. We did have to wait almost a week for the Lexus paint specialist to come - but it worked.

Hey guys.. unfortunately I’ve had my front bumper painted twice and rear 3 times from fender benders and parking lot surprises when returning to my car. I will admit two of them are my fault.
Ive always noticed my bumpers looked off from an angle with different shades of yellow in them. So after someone hits my front bumper and it went through insurance I took it right to the dealer. I’ve felt like only the dealer could paint it exactly to match. And when I got it back it was a percent match! No peeling or colour fading after a few months to look painted.

It it was an aftermarket bumper as well. And I plan on taking it to the dealer for my rear bumper and to fix a rusted stone chip on my drivers door
