Post Blackstone Oil Report 10k miles on Mobil 1 0w-20

With all the discussion about synthetic oil and when is the right time to get an OC done, I paid the $25 to have mine examined. Here is my OC history:

5k miles - OC with blended oil (not sure what viscosity)

10k miles - OC to Mobil 1 0w-20

20k miles - OC to Mobil 1 0w-20 with sample from old oil sent to Blackstone

I feel the iron and aluminum were high due to engine break in, but I will reallly only know this for sure if I do the test again at the next OC. Flashpoint was low and I am not sure if that may be related to engine break in as well.

And the debate begins.

Very cool report dknight, you know you're a car nut when you have your old oil analyzed lol... Now how can I do this. Did you send a sample to blackstone labs, or did you get it done locally?

I searched for it online. Many companies make you pay in advance, where Blackstone sends the kit for free and you pay to get it analyzed. It came with a collection tube and an outer "case" that was already labeled for mailing. I paid $25 for the test and $3.50 to mail it. Here is the link:

its basically a blood test for a car. I did a 8k synthetic oil change on our 120k mile Honda Pilot and it had below average wear and doing the extra TBN check they said it can go 10k miles easily. Engine should last a long time

so for 10k mile oil change do you change the oil filter at 5k?
