I run Mobil one 5w-30, but my engine makes the crank up noise on start up alot with it. Thinking of switching to Castrol full synthetic as I read on the "cranking noise on start up" monster thread that Castrol will help minimize the issue.

0w20 is also the new standard for lev or ulev. Specifically it started on hybrids but as emissions are getting worse in the world many companies now have such higher efficiency engines that the move to 0w - 20 is now becoming a new standard.

0w20 is Lexus's attempt to increase , I would stick with 5w30 or 0w30 for 2006-2010 IS250

Default Do you still use 0W2 on your IS250

My dealer started to change my IS250 2009 oil . They from 5W30 to 0W20, but last week I went to costco for an oil change and specified 0W2, they were inclined to refuse to use 0W2 . They finally accepted to fill it with 0W20 but I had to sign an agreement that costco will not be responsible if damages happen because of the oil.
The technician was telling me the switch from 5W30 to 0W20 was mainly only to save gas, and later on the internet I was scared by what I read on synclube.com saying that the 0W20 was shortening the life of an engine by 30%.... Let me know how many miles your car has today
