The biker had plenty of time to stop. Obviously he was doing something. The lexus driver was busy with something too since it tooks hm/her a very long time to pull out and he/she was blocking the whole lane. And the direction of where the lexus driver wants to go is strange too (not going right and not going left either).

My guess is the lexus driver was distracted.

I think I agree with the police report.

im always cautious of my surroundings, especially in traffic here in LA, so many motorcyclists like to zoom in between cars, i always check my mirrors and leave them ample room or if i see them coming i move over more to the other dotted line, for their safety and so they dont damage my precious car haha.

in the 2is defense, that motorcycle looked like he was flying... unfortunate for both

They just mentioned this in the sports section of my local news today and it seems like the motorcyclist was able to walk away from the accident with nothing more than minor injuries and a broken bone (forget where) and nothing else reported.

The Lexus driver is probably worrying about the bus and person in front, so he/she pulls out slow.

The biker is going to fast to stop in time -- he probably hit the car at 40mph and going faster before that unless he didn't brake. He does notice the car as he tries to go into the other lane -- probably try to squeeze through; and he did, but not the bike..
