Default Hoovey's Oregon Summer Vacation

So I just got back from a vacation up in Oregon. The significance is I've never taken my IS out of state. I've always taken my Explorer. I'm proud to say she made it back in one piece albeit a tad dirty (see below). My family has been going up to Crescent for 46 years now and we've always camped or rented Cabins. That is until my Aunt and Uncle bought property and built a house. Without further adieu, my Lexus and I's road trip

Aunt and Uncles Cabin

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I come from a Blue Oval Family and proud of it! My 2003 Explorer is not pictured as I decided to take the Lexus instead! From left to right: 98 F-150, 2011 Escape, 2002 Explorer, 2013 F-150, 2007 Escape, 99 Explorer.

Some will note the stock look and appearance. Truth is the lower grill is gone, air suspension is gone, and the Vossen's will actually be for sale soon. At the moment I'm just enjoying my "nice" car and the Lexus qualities albeit with some stickier tires, sways, struts, coils, and a chassis brace. Made for an exciting ride in the mountain twisties. Truthfully I don't think I'll end up in a 3IS based on the poor packaging and cabin material downgrade. As my IS is already payed off I'm considering keeping her and leasing a 550i simply because I want a V8. Something I can't get on the 4GS as of right now.

The lake is about 2 miles or so, straight shot from the Cabin. Honestly feels like home.

Beautiful and ice cold. Wouldn't have it any other way

Stroll along the lake

There's still snow on the peak!!

Simax Beach

Boat's 4 years younger than me and still going strong. The 2013 F-150 replaced the old 97. This new 5.0 V8 makes towing a breeze

Quick shot before I wipe out

Back to shore

Drying off, gotta rep my Sharks

Found a gravel path to pull over and snap a few

Call me crazy but sometimes clean and classy > über modded look

7am on road back to Cali via US97

You know you've reached Klamath Falls aka Oregon / Cali border when you see Midges... (brownish pillars of millions for miles)

Had to stop at Vista Point to take in Mt. Shasta

Simply breathtaking

I HATE MIDGES!!

Anyway just wanted to share my summer vacation. Enjoy the rest of your summer(s)!!

the stock wheels look way better with your current set up than your last set of wheels IMO, keep em on!

We will be sad to see you leave the Lexus family, but the 550i is an excellent option for your next car That car is on my radar as well. I love the way the new 5 looks. Very classy and elegant.

I agree with your assessment of the 3IS. I'll be keeping my 2IS for many years to come and may look at BMW, Audi, or Mercedes down the road (although I may look at Lexus if the RCF or other F models pan out when I'm in the market!)

I live this lifestyle, thanks for sharing. I plan on making the trip in the 350 from VA to Arizona and hike the Havasu Falls and then head to Yosemite and take the northern rte through minesota and michigan and end up in NY for a couple nights then head back down to VA...it'll be like 7k miles total or something. I've lived in East Coast all my life and i want to drive in the west with the mountains, look so peaceful.

Your parts will live on in all our cars. Pics look great, Oregon sounds like such a nice place to escape to.

Took a white-water rafting trip down the Deschutes River once; what a blast!

OR is my true home and I miss it from time to time. I also love the fact that our family's cabin at Fish Hawk Lake is always open for me when I visit.

Awesome trip! Thanks for sharing Hoovey2411. I agree with your clean/classy v uber-mod. But you had (and still have!) one hell of a ride.

Although I cant agree with your Hockey choice, my GF screamed "hell yeah! :grunts: NorCal knows how to do it." when she saw it. She is sad to see the car slowly reverting back to stock though. GL on the V8! Should be a nice upgrade.

Oregon is a beautiful place to visit - I lived there for 6 years and ripped up most of the fun roads in the state with my S2000 crew. We stayed at Cresent Lake lodge a few years ago when we did our Crater Lake drive.

Next time you go up there you need to hit McKenzie Pass - amazing road that climbs from the valley at 1800 ft to the top of the pass at some 5200 ft.

I have a friend I'm visiting in Portland for Labor Day. Making the Portland-Seattle-Vancouver trek.
Great thing about that state is you can buy online, ship it to Oregon, and pick it up or have them ship it to you

If you're wondering, I bought a camera, which would have been $200 in tax.
