Default Burnt OEM HID ballast...literally.

Passenger side ballast is done. I swapped bulbs and confirmed. The connector is charred like burnt chicken too and was also smoking. Ugh... I was looking at getting the OEM D4S ballast from IJDMtoy for about 70-80$ and replacing it. Any better deals? Do I need to remove my bumper to remove my headlight? Some say yes and some say no but I haven't seen how to.

You have to remove bumper to remove headlight cause bumper tab still attached on the bottom of the headlight. You also need to open up your headlight to remove ballast.
Here is DIY show you how to change ballast:

I saw that video as well but I saw some other threads that said you don't need to open the headlight.. :/ I'm kinda nervous about baking the headlight

I have oem ballast if you want to save some money. You don't need to open your headlight, but you NEED to remove the bumper, then remove the headlights to access the ballast. What brand bulbs were you using?

I used DDM tubing D4S and they slightly burnt my connectors, I believe DDM is using 55w when our ballast is a 35w. Going to buy Garax soon hopefully the same wont happen

I just did a retrofit and let me tell you baking the headlight was my biggest fear, but in reality it was the easiest thing to do.

I am also DDM D4S bulbs. Problem started before I put them in though but it could be a problem.

i also bought a set of d4s 6k bulbs from DDM and it burned the sockets too. i cleaned up the socket trying to make sure the grounds were clear of burned plastic. then i replaced them with new set of bulbs from ijdmtoy and havent had a problem since then. i also noticed that the light output form ijdmtoy is brigther.

The driver side bulb is a little burned on the bulb contact but not too crazy and it still works. I'm keeping my HIDs off for now though just in case. How much were the ijdmtoy bulbs?

the bulbs were $60 (6k )and i got the HID kit for fog lights for $70(6K). the light output is a lot brigther compared to stock and DDM. as for the ddmt kit i was using their direct replacement for D4S 35 w. its not the first time that i have problems with their kits. i had problems in my g35 with flickering bulbs. i gave ddm another change and got screwed.

I would turn it on and it'd flicker for a quick second then shut off. I inspected the connector on the ballast side and it was completely burnt.

Ordered a pair of 5000K bulbs from Xenon Depot. Excited for them to come in! It was hard to decide between 6500k and 5000k but I ended up with the 5000k because I didn't want them to be any bluer and I thought 6000k was blue enough
