USB memory stick for music playback
Anyone using a 128GB USB stick for music playback? Was thinking about dumping all my music to one and wanted to know if anyone else had tried it and how it works?

No idea about the answer to your question. I have over 2,000 songs and they all fit on a 4GB stick.
128GB... Does that mean you have 64,000 songs? And that you want access to all of them when in the car?

I don't know if your HU will do the same... however I had a Pioneer touch screen in my last car. The larger the memory stick plugged in, the longer it took to read it all and begin playing after starting the car. 16gb was the largest I used, and it did not start playing for about 10s.
So, if you do go with something that large, and you run into that issue, you know why.

lol 128gb. what you storing on that **** to watch while driving. if you have more than 16gb of songs i think you probably only listen to about 2gb of it. just narrow your selection down. just a thought.
how much did you even pay for 128gb. like 100 bucks? 200?

Sometimes it is easier, based on HU, to just get a usb stick.
OP may already own the USB Stick, so buying an iPod would close him more money. I already had my 16gb, plus I liked being able to browse through my songs on the touch screen.
It all comes down to personal preference.

Thanks for all the reply's.
I do have a Iphone-4 (8gb) which I BT sync for both calls and music playback. It works pretty good and I can force the iPhone to Slacker radio mode and listen to my Slacker stations. I ripped some MP3's to a CDR and I liked how you can create folders and group music together and thought that might be a cool way to do it with a very large USB stick to put all my music on and yes I have that much music currently on a 1-TB hard drive that I use for my Sonos system in house.
My main concern was with how slow it would access the music on such a large USB stick and that is why I asked if anyone has tried a 128MB stick which Amazon sells for $80.

So I tested with a Kingston 8GB USB stick I had and loaded 3 folders onto it with about 50 songs and it was very slow to load and browse music folders? The CD-R with MP3s seems to be very fast comparatively.
