On paper the is350 is making 306hp, the g37 vq37 makes 330

G37 weighs ~ 3600-4100 lbs
Is350 weighs ~ 3400-3500 lbs

(stats based on Wikipedia)

I think your gonna walk him to be honest it might come down to the driver

Here it is from the g37 drivers themselves.

automatic? manual? those kinda make the difference

I hate to say it, love my IS but the g37 gearbox is much more favorable than the IS. so if its both automatic, I would take the G... psych him out and maybe you got a chance. it would be close but i wouldn't put money on it

you should be able to take him at the higher speeds
Lexus is known for their torque at higher rpms

The IS gearbox is more favorable from a dig because of the aggressive gearing. Don't do a rolling run, G will have the IS's number over 100mph. IS excels from a standstill. Remember to turn off traction control, and brake launch from 2K RPMs. You'll beat the G

The is350 should be able to take the G from a dig. Our crazy aggressive first gear, lower weight, and higher torque will get us off the line quicker.

Up top, the gearing on the IS isn't that favorable and the G37 has the extra hp for a better top speed.

In reality, the difference will come down to the driver; the two cars are too similar for a clear cut winner with two non-profession drivers. if you mess up the launch you will lose. If you nail the launch, the g37 has no chance until triple digits.

I have both cars. From a stand still, the automatic Is350 will walk on an automatic G37. The G37 starts off slow due to its weight where the IS350 speeds off right off the bat due to our aggressive gearing and torque. I'm not sure about 80 mph but for sure at 100mph, the G37 will pass the IS350.

Edit: I'm not sure if it is just my experience, but I heard from others too but the G37 gearbox isn't responsive all the time. So if the driver doesn't know how to start the G, he'll find himself pressing hard on the acceleration but will not get any response until a little bit later. My friend's tried out the G37 and agreed that he feels the "unresponsive start"

it'll be a driver's race with both cars somewhat similar in specs.

just remember to settle it at the track.

Like all the others have stated, the Is350 will get the jump start and if your just doing a 1/4 mile you should be fine.

Very close in numbers...If you have two real drivers then 350 should win....but understand there's no room for error bec if the 350 slip up and shift too soon that G will eat that up quickly...

Would it be best to just push the t/c button once so it engages over 30MPH or should the T/C be completly turned off by holding the button?

I ask as I also just got my 350 and I have a couple of friends with G35s and G37s and they both want to race me.

completely off to do brake launch...but practise first bec if you do it wrong you will have too much wheel spin

I did smoke G37s at irwindale every single run. Like the other member said, take him from the dig (traffic light to traffic light)

P.S. Irwindale is only 1/8 mile track so longer race maybe difference.
