No idea, I've never opened the accumulator.

It might be possible.

Jeff, would removing the interior require a clutch bleed?

Also for those of you with the 250MT, and quickshifter, do you guys still get a crunch 2nd gear shift?

This thing acts like a CDV (Clutch Delay Valve) on BMWs. This accumulator, and all variations of them, are pretty useless for someone who is experienced with manual transmissions and clutches. Glad you made this thread Jeff.

I've never had a 2nd gear crunch with or without the quickshifter.

What year is your car? I've driven a few different 6MT's and never had a 2nd gear crunch, but only 1-2 of them were 06-08, the rest were all 09+ (which have the updated transmission).

My car has the updated TSB transmission so it's an even newer design, but even my original transmission didn't have a crunch.

I have a 06, July/06 built I think according to the vin. By the time I got my car, I was already out of the original warranty and couldn't get the TSB for the updated tranny.

Sounds like the previous owner abused your transmission a bit. If you want to get that crunch fixed, you'll probably need to replace some internal parts (synchro ring and perhaps the sleeve/gear depending on how bad it is).

Thanks Jeff! Both you and B16da9 have always given us MT owners new projects and ideas. I have yet to install my rear diff LSD and now I have the accumulator clutch to delete.

I have always loved driving stick but sometimes this Toyota MT is very fussy and temperamental. I still love the car and this will make it more enjoyable.

Nice job and keep the ideas coming!

Thanks Jeff for all the information and the tutorial! I bought the recommended parts and everything worked great. I removed the Clutch Accumulator before my first NASA HPDE1 track day back in January. Feels much better and engaging/disengaging the clutch is much smoother.

I was actually going to update this thread and my other build thread once my new flywheel/clutch setup went in, but since this thread was updated I figured I might as well post my latest addition to the car that is getting installed with the new clutch setup. The parts were ordered for a GRMN Mark X 6MT which does not use the clutch accumulator that the IS250 has and as such has a slightly longer hardline, bracket and a different hose, but are all factory and bolt up without any modification needed.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience it`s really useful. I wonder if you still remember the part numbers from that kit? I tried to find parts catalogue for GRMN Mark X 6MT wasn't succeed, contacted local toyota dealership, I`ve been told that there is only one option available - provide chassi number or reg number (from GRMN Mark X 6mt but in the UK we don't have that model.) .
