Default Mark Levinson Sub Repair Kit

Has anyone used the subwoofer repair kit for the IS? I know people have used it for the GS and it has worked great for them. This could be a cheap fix if it works. Here is a link of the sub repair kit...

this is just a new surround. if the subwoofer is blown its the voice coil thats no good, having a new surround will not fix it. best bet is to find a member like myself who has upgraded subwoofers and buy there stock. assuming they kept it and didn't throw it out like i did...

You don't even need that see my post below, they just jumped the spider with a new wire and its good as new. Not sure why you assume the voice coil is bad, thats quite a hard thing to mess up unless you are severely overpowering the coil.

This might be what I need. thx for the info, OP.

I will try the even cheaper solution first tho - just using silicon and seal up the edge where it tears. I just have been busy and did not have the time to remove the back seats to access the subwoofer.

when i hear broken or blown subwoofer i automatically think vc because the common problem is over powering. he could have played a severely clipped song and blew a vc. however the i did not think of the possibility of the leads disconnecting off the vc former. if thats the case then it should be an easy fix. just not sure why there would be a hole in a surround of a stock subwoofer with such low levels of excursion...

Most people just mail it to them and pay the 45 bucks, but consider this a free bump to see if anyone knows.
