Damaged McGard Brand Wheel Lock Keys
FYI for anyone out there with a damaged McGard brand wheel lock key:
I called the company and mentioned that Discount Tire destroyed my wheel lock key from routine tire rotations and the use of air tools. First off, you need to have the key's identification card in order to get a replacement. My key is nothing like what is advertised on their website. My locks came equipped with a CPO vehicle. The product carries a 1 year warranty. My key is at least 6 years old.
The replacement key cost is $15 including shipping and they said if I return my original key I will get a credit back for my purchase or they can send me a second key and keep my $15. The wait is 7-10 days for shipping. You can pay extra for express mail.
Lessons learned: remove wheel locks immediately to avoid this issue and do not use air tools on wheel lock keys.
Hopefully, this will help people avoid a battle with any company that destroys their wheel lock key.
