understand the pros and cons of aftermarket, but you're not exactly an unbiased poster. plus I did mention I tried oem bulbs (from an infiniti) which did not work as well. any suggestions on what else to try?

what's the diff between a d2s and a d4s btw?

Thanks!

I am not stating that our brand of D4S bulbs are the ONLY ones to got. I am stating that we have tested many aftermarket D4S bulbs and VERY few companies produce a reliable one.

D4S = Mercury free.

Even though D2S and D4S share the same base, you cannot use a D2S bulb with a D4S ballast - and vice versa. - this is a common mistake.

understood, by all means im not putting down your advice or your company. just trying to solve the problem here. I've worked in the parts biz in my previous life I know there are good and bad aftermarket parts out there.

so bottom line an 08 is250 uses a d4s bulb? I am pretty sure I used a d2s bulb that lasted a week.

cant say for sure what the infiniti bulb or the other set of aftermarket bulbs were because I did not try those, somebody else did.

so do we think buying a good set of d4s bulbs would remedy the issue?

thanks!

If the IS250 had OEM HID headlights with OEM D4 style ballasts - D2 bulbs would flicker consistently and burn out. You may also damage the ballast itself.

not sure if the IS has a D4S system, but it appears it does from other members post

the bulbs I put in worked fine for a week and now they are staying on for a short period of time and then shutting off

have to turn on and off again before they come back on, but no flickering

The IS with OEM HIDs uses D4S bulbs.

Still going great with no issues.

Well tried a set of aftermarket d4s bulbs today and they lasted for a few seconds before shutting off

I guess it's a ballast issue

Funny though the d2s bulbs that are in the car now have lasted the longest so far

Any last minute thoughts before we bring it to the dealer?
