AM radio dramatically quieter than FM, any reason..?

AM radio dramatically quieter than FM, any reason..?
08 IS250 is my vehicle, so when I tune to any AM channels, the volume is almost 1/4 what it would be at the equivalent FM volume settings... Don't know why, any insights?

Just bought an 06 IS 250 and have noticed the same thing. AM stations are considerably lower volume than FM, a CD, or my Aux connection. My guess is that's just the lower power AM signal not getting a boost from the Lexus stereo.
