To the OP, Plasti-dip is an inexpensive alternative to paint, but allows for more flexibility; so if you don't like it/get bored, you can literally peel it off. The stuff has been around for years, but its a new trend with car guys. If you want a temporary fix, it's great. But if you're looking for something that will last, paint/powder-coat are your best options. Plus, powder-coating can be done in a multitude of finishes, from matte to glossy, metallic, etc., whereas most plasti-dip looks matte, even with gloss added. I know a few people that have done this to their wheels, and as a prank, one guy peeled the dip off of one of his friend's wheels...
thank you. I will definitely not plasti-dip my rims. Powder coat seems the way to go. Thanks for the info everyone!

My gf's car is rusted to hell, maybe ill recommend she plasti dip it.

if you never plastidipped anything then by all means go ahead. its going to be a pain to get off because after a few weeks it will cheap. its only easy to peel off if its still intact as 1 piece.

DIY plastidipping is easy and if done right will look just as good as a powder coat wheel. I did this for my friends IS a while back. A few coats of plasti dipped topped off with a few coats of clear coat.

Still looks mint after tons of car washes. The clear is a must add imo.

To each their own. See these in person and I bet your opinion will change.

I'm just posting this because of cost savings it has and the ability to remove.

Powdercoating can be more shiny than you can get plastidip. Plus with powdercoat, they have so many different color options out there its not even funny. Plastidip to me is a temp thing. My wife had hers done before she got rims and it looked good for a temp look. But if you dont clear coat it, they are a pain to keep clean cuz plastidip is like a rubbery substance and will peel if you grab it just right. Powdercoating might be more expensive but will last a lot longer!

Plastidip doesn't even compare to a powdercoated rim. Powdercoat is practically identical to a factory paint for rims but comes in various differnet colors. Please do not plastidip your lexus rims it'll look tacky.

Even LEXUS owners complimented the plastidipped wheels at local meets. Then when the owner said they were plastidipped .......all seemed soooo shocked. Just because plastidipped is in a can and cheap doesn't mean they don't belong on a Lexus. That whole..."oh don't do it on your LEXUS" is a ridiculous comment.

I didn't say plastidipped is the same as powdercoat....I just said that it can look just as good if done right. That's of course, using clear coat. Just like what someone mentioned above, it's a solid temp look.

I think it looks great. I will probably just get them powder coated due to longevity, but good work on those rims for sure!
