Completed is250-ISF conversion
Hello CL,
I Have completed my 2009 is250-ISF conversion...I went with the original isf rims with 225/40 (f) 255/35(r) tires....I got the isf body kit (front/rear bumper) from ebay for $1000...the rims+tires from CL classified for $1200....Paintshop was $500....tint @ 20% for $100....2 magnaflow exhaust $250....K&N intake filter $200....ISF badges $100.....total project conversion cost was about $3350....I will be getting the China Nav unit soon too!!!!!!!!!...when the fronts wear down...I will be putting 225/35 in the front...there is very minor rubbing when making sharp turns...but nothing major..the ride with these tires is very smooth and cornering has improved greatly....I know some of you will concider this project as posing...
but bottom line is this...I have a is250...I like the look of the ISF...so I decided to do this body conversion...it's not an ISF...but it does look very aggressive in my opinion with the upgrades over the f-sport option...I also know some of you will frown on me going with the magnaflows...instead of $700 HKS pipes...but I really didnt want to hear all that noise from a flowmaster or HKS...believe it or not...with the intake and this exhaust...the engine sounds amazing and the power band is very noticable.the tone is deep when you give it gas,but kinda quiet when cruising...thats exactly what I wanted.....the MPG went up to around 34mpg on the highway cruising @65 mph for 60 miles.....I tried this test before the intake/exhaust/rims..and highway mpg was around 30mpg @65 for about 60 miles.....
This is my family car that I wanted to upgrade..I'm not looking to race in the IS... I just wanted to upgrade the looks and minor performance.....when I'm looking for speed or power...I own a 2003 Z06 corvette or I can hop on my 2005 R1 street bike.....so dont think that I dont get my need for speed fix...If I didnt own the vett, I probably would have went with a real ISF...but I didnt...so for a sporty looking family car ...this is the next best thing...My 2009 IS250 with a ISF tuxedo on was my answer to a more aggressive upgrade.....Feel free to tell me what you think...good or bad....and also if you have any questions about this ISFconversion...just ask.....it wasnt that bad and for roughly $3k it beats paying $3k at the dealership for the F-sport package...

not bad. need some side skirts to complete the look though, bumpers dont line up with oem skirts.
what do you have planned next?
i would black out the grille and emblems in rear, lower and add a spoiler

Conversion
Very nice, I think its an aggresive step up look and I see nothing wrong with it at all since you are borrowing from a twin body car of the same make but I also have to say remove the IS-F badges just keep the oem F sport ones.
The IS-F badges makes it an imposer for sure so no need for that.

im going to give my honest opinion. if i saw that on the streets, it would be like a slap in my face. especially when i see the ISF emblems. there is nothing ISF about it. all replica parts, no engine. the hood and side skirts are pieces that make the ISF unique the most and you are missing both which looks really off IMO. you spent all that money but when you could of done something like this and look a lot cleaner and more aggressive without any negative comments ever being made.

Looks pretty good. Was the front bumper a straight swap or did minor modifications need to be made? I was thinking of doing just a front is-f bumper conversion but was intimidated with the amount of work that needed to be done.
If you could fabricate some is-f quarter panels that would be really nice. What do you have planned next? Is the car lowered?

My opinion is to remove the badges (ISF, and 2 F badges each side), BONUS points if you return the IS250 badge.
IS250 looks like an ISF = NICE
IS250 with ISF badges = no.
People will appreciate it more when they see that you actually modded the car.
I'm glad that I'm a good example.

Hmmm not sure, have mixed feelings on this. At the least I would have done the complete exterior conversion including the hood & a few missing pieces, then take those magnaflows off so nobody would be wondering why in the world a ISF sounds like a 6 cycl lol. But then again this is no different than the millions of 3 series you see with M3 badges, normal Mercs with AMG badges or a plain jane C5 vette trying to flaunt with a Z06 badge
