Cold weather and battery
Hello everyone,
I'm seeking a little advice; I currently own a 2009 IS250 and my warranty ends in February. My concern is that over the past few days there has been a cold snap. The tempatures have been -15 to -20 degrees C. In the cold weather the car it taking quite a bit of time to start up and this is not the case in warmer weather.
My RX is not having any difficulty starting.
I'm not the original owner if the car and last winter the tempatures never got this low so I really have nothing to compare it to.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
Chris

Do you still have the original battery? If so you might want to have it load tested. I noticed that when my battery was about done it would have a hard time cranking in the cold, it went bad the following spring.

I went to the local Toyota dealer this afternoon for a load test. The print out read- Replace. I have an appointment on Friday at the Lexus dealership to have the battery replaced as I only have 27 days left on my 4-year warranty.
Thanks to everyone for their input,
Chris

I like how you have the plug in for the block heater located.
It doesn't get that cold where I live.. But it would be nice on cold nights to have a block heater. Does it appreciably help helping the motor to warm up quicker?
These cars seem to have loooong warm up times.

Went to Lexus of Barrie today; new battery installed under warranty. The car was nicely cleaned. The new battery comes with an 84 month pro-rated warranty. Needless to say I'm very happy.

Today I was forced to call roadside assistance as my IS died. My IS was towed to the dealership; the problem was a faulty battery. A new battery was installed;,due to the recent battery change I was curious to see if the alternator was nor functioning properly and if there was any draw of power if the vehicle was turned off. According to the technicians the alternator was fine and no draws of power. So a battery was a dud and only lasted three weeks. I'm a little surprised but happy with the service I received

Hello,
Yesterday my IS would not start; called CAA and the battery failed a load test. Car was taken to the dealership. My battery was tested and replaced. This is the fourth battery in 6 years. An alternator test was done and its functioning normally, all of the connections were clean.
The issue that I have is the batteries are not lasting and its not due to lack of long-distance driving as my drive to work is 38 kms and since I've owned the car since 2012 we have put on 70000kms.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I was also a little unimpressed with the fact that I had to pay for a new battery, does that seem off?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
