Anyone had this issue?
Hey guys. Thanksfor everyones input but before I buy my cars I go to edmunds.com and read the consumer reviews. I saw this on the 2007 IS 350 Reliablity on edmunds.com does anyone know about this?
Here is the Link
http://www.edmunds.com/lexus/is-350/...liability.html
Incase the link doesnt work this is what it says about 2007 IS 350 Reliablity
*A periodic problem with this vehicle is failure of the Intake Camshaft Gears. An occasional problem with this vehicle is failure of the Camshaft Bearing Cap Oil H Gaskets.
The cost to replace the Intake Camshaft Gears is estimated at $613.00 for parts and $1703.00 for labor. The cost to repair the Camshaft Bearing Cap Oil H Gaskets is estimated at $20.00 for parts and $292.50 for labor. All pricesareestimatesbasedon $65.00 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax. *
I dont want to purchase a vehicle with this type of problem.

I believe they are referencing the cam gear grinding noise issue that is a know issue on 2IS models. If the dealership can replicate the noise and you are under a factory powertrain warranty, they will fix it for free.
Regarding the oil leak, I've read about that happening...but it is quite seldom really. It would affect the 2IS lineup, not just the 350.

No, TSB only. If you're under warranty, dealer will fix it for free IF they can listen to the issue themselves (either through digital recording or physical evidence). Otherwise, there have been no reports of engines destroying themselves due to this seldomly occurring malfunction.
