Exclamation Poor Gas Mileage in BRAND NEW IS250?

Hey everyone, I just bought a new 2013 IS250 Satuiday and love it! But I've been getting poor gas milage averaging 18-17 mpg. I am on my first tank still and drive pretty close to the speed limit and im babying it, drove it 180 miles since getting it and i have a quarter tank left, is this normal? When i got the car i was told and read that the average people get on them is around 22-23 mpg.

I'm assuming that since its brand new there are very few miles on it? I have heard (although I have no personal experience) that it improves after the first few thousand miles.

I get 28-30... In the city. Haha. I drive like a grandma though. Give it a little time and see if the motor is still breaking in, if it continues then take it to Lexus. Yay warranties.

I would give it a couple of tank fill ups before thinking it is a problem. If you come from driving a lighter or more powerful car you may be pressing on the gas more than "normal" to compensate or just breaking in. Also, double check the tire pressure. I get around 24-26 MPG with random "non-grandma" driving.

yea i drove a 98 4 cyl camry, and i know i wasnt goin to get the same mpg i did in that, but not as bad as it is now. I'm wait to break it in at 1,000 miles and see how it is. I'll have a few fill ups by then and i think thats good number of miles to break it in at. Its just a pain if this is a problem to go to the deal for.

Yeah, you're still in the break-in period of the vehicle. Start keeping records of fuel comsumption starting with the third tank. Enjoy the ride!
