Default My IS350... rear ended...

Hello everyone,

I am a new member, new Lexus owner and a first time poster.

I bought and IMMACULATE IS350 about a 1 month ago. It was a 2006 IS350 with the Lexus kit, all LED lights, Injen CAI, offset tires, 6% tint... only 80,000 km and in pristine condition. Not to mention i got it for a STEAL of a price from the owner who only wanted to sell it to "the right person".

Having owned many cars in the past few years, I had not been more wow'd by a car in a long time. Coming from a European background, I had fully converted from VW, BMW and Merc to Lexus...

Coming home form work the other day... i got rear-ended at about 45 km/h. I am ok, but my beautiful IS350 was not so lucky... I was 100% not at fault and am very upset about the imbecile who rear-ended me because "I wasn't paying attention"...

The repair shop said it would be an expensive repair and that they have fixed worse. I am confident Lexus will fix the car back to perfection, however it will never be the same because when I decide to sell the car, who will want to buy it with a $10,000 - $15,000 repair...? Nobody. I am going to demand that I am also compensated for that scenario.

I haven't even had the chance to do the first oil change or even properly turn off the TCS...

here is a pic of it being towed away... How much do you think this will cost? The rear 1/4 pane; is a bit bent so i don't know how much more significant that makes it.

ouch, sorry to see this happen to you so quickly after buying the car.. you were just getting use to it. that sucks, I'm guessing that if the damage is only on the body and that if the axle's and wheels are fine then repairs will probly be about 6-8k i assume. When i got in accident with the front of my car. I had to replace my bumper and headlights and other small details and the cost for repair was like a little over 7k i believe. So i am guessing it would be similar repair costs...

My car ended up being written off. I got pretty good value for it....
I am unable to find another IS350 that I am willing to buy at the time and need a car, so I have done the unthinkable and purchased an immaculate 2009 BMW 335i...

My IS350 was a very special car to be. It was my favorite car that I've owned. I fell in love from the moment that I saw it and will forever respect this car as you can truly conclude that Lexus really was in the pursuit of perfection.

When I started car shopping again, I felt as if I owed to BMW to test-drive the 335. Once I had, I was sold and was completely in love all over again. I am unsure which car I like more, but I can definitely conclude that the IS350 will forever be in my memories. Maybe, I'll get to re-live them again in the future.

ps. Selling Offset 18 inch IS350 rims, INJEN CAI and blue illuminating door sills. PM me

^
Doesn't look that much damage from the photo provided from what it appears since car was considered a write off, there high probability that the car has has structural/frame damage to the vehicle upon inspection.

Yea, must have been structural issues that we can't see, because I didn't think the damage looked that bad and definitely looked drive-able from that one pic. ( was about to ask why he let them tow it but I guess that doesn't matter)

Sorry to hear about your car. Glad you are ok. I had the same thing happen last week and damage to my car was almost $6500.
