Well actually, you don't see it well in the picture, but it really is a mess. The middle portion of the steel bumper nailed the back of the car and the trunk has moved up about 4 inches... the spare tire caused the trunk to lift and bent it. What it means is that pretty much 1/3 of the car will need to be re-welded on... I told them that a $15,000 repair was not something I was comfortable with. How would I ever sell the vehicle again, or if it would even be safe again? They wrote it off for excellent value.

Rear ended in my 2011 IS 350 AWD
I was rear ended last Friday night in my 2011 IS 350 AWD. I was stopped at the light with my foot on the brake. Bumper damage was quite clear. Upon leaving the scene of the accident, I noticed that the car did not drive correctly. I stopped and checked everything, including tires but nothing looked amiss. I got on the freeway and the front right tire proceeded to separate from the wheel. It appeared that the tire had been sliced/cut by the rim. Long story short is the insurance company said there is no way the damage is related to the accident. There wasn't anything wrong prior to the accident, it must be related. Has anyone had a similar experience? Or can explain how the two might be related?
Thanks for your help.

Hopefully I'm not reviving a thread that's completely dead, I didn't get a chance to check this forum for a while.

Should've gotten rear reflector LEDs. More lights means more warning that you're stopping. Though you'd have had to install them, they're not quite plug and play, from what I've seen on the internet.

Trust me it would not have made a bloody difference. It was broad day light when he hit me (evening time). The pic was taken about 45 min after the accident.

I ended up getting a 2009 335 sedan with 40,000 km. Absolutely love the car and it drives and looks brand new. I wrote a comparison review about the two cars on another forum..
BMW won in driving, Lexus won in several fit, finish and ease of use items.
