Default So I test drove a 08 ISF today and...

So I think it was time to upgrade my is350 so I went to the dealership. I seen this 08 ISF, so I decided to take it on a test drive. I wasn't impressed or maybe I was expecting more. Everything was good except for the power, it was kinda slow intl like 4k rpms then it feels like it hits vtec but still doesn't seem fast to me? Or maybe it was that car?

you think the IS-f is slow? haha.

that thing has like >400 hp, and does 0-60 in a little over 4 seconds. if you want something fast get a supra or modded subbie

did you remember to take turn on the sport button and turn off the traction control? if not, i think its like only 300hp.

i drove the is350 and isf and it's like night and day. it feels like a rocket.

That's just how the F is. In fact an IS350 will beat it to around 30mph before the F takes off like a rocket. When VVT-i kicks in it's amazing

Yes turn off traction control.

I feel the same thing when I drove the is-f, its I love it and hate it at the same time... On those boring days you just kinda want to rip around in it, but I personally don't feel the power REALLY kicking in til ~4k. Then there are those busy day where there is traffic or you just want a quiet cruise it feels amazing, keeping the rpms ~ >3

My experience with the F was very similar to the OP (at first). I came from an 08 IS300 to the ISF, and got the car from the states without ever driving one. I loved the IS 300, but it was lacking that edge IMO. after it arrived it was dropped straight to the dealer for a service and a brake job. The first time i drove it was after the work was done, and my first thought was "thats it".

But that all changed as i REALLY drove the car. Its ridiculously fast!!! and in true lexus fashion (ultimate smoothness), If you don't pay attention to the speedometer you will have no idea how fast you are ACTUALLY going.

Yeah I feel you on that. It creeps up slow till 4k then wot kicks on. That and the torque doesn't seem all that cause it didn't put me back in my seat. Even driving it in sport,TC off at the drag wasn't that scary.

Thats the best how Is F drive. The 5.0 liter will suck all your gas if you like to feel it instant fast and to pull your back right away like your mustang j/k.It got good mpg and smooth and it can be a beast when you want it to be. Thats how everybody like about the vvti.

it would take a supercharger for an is350 to run what the isf run stock. lol. there is a difference of "quick" and feeling quick. for those of you who dont see a drastic difference, you are just lying to yourself. this is coming from a person who wanted the is350 first. its kind of like saying, lancer is just as quick as an lancer evo, but the evo power kicks in a 3.5 and up only (turbo). lol.

is350 is invincible with stop light to stop light acceleration though. awesome first few gears and i think that why people think its feels just as quick. but i knew right away after driving the f, its a whole diff ball game. i couldn't live with myself if i bought the 350 and saw the F on the road. it's a sleeper for sure as well though. underrated. but still FEELS boring and slow compared to the F

I have a good feeling that it has to do with the fact that once inside the car, they both resemble each other. Perhaps its a mind trick. But the reality is, the ISF is definitely faster; you just have to use the tool is the right manner to test that fact.
