Smile Are my puddle lights out or disabled by personalized settings?

Besides when you approach the IS250, when do puddle lights come on if they have been disabled by personalized settings?

I bought a used 2007 IS250 last week (no luxury package).

I have never seen the puddle lights on.

I have found threads about replacing the bulbs, but there is some risk of damage and I'd like to know if they are 'out' before trying.

I read that they can be disabled by personalized settings, but I don't know if they have been.

So I'm looking for a way to verify this. I read all the relevant pages in the user manual and didn't find the answer.

Besides when you approach the IS250, when do puddle lights come on if they have been disabled by personalized settings?

Thanks!

There's no LPS for puddle lights.

I don't think that is a changeable setting. That's weird that both of them happen to not work, maybe check the fuse?

My owner's manual shows an arrow pointing to the light and labels it "Outer foot light" (p. 209)

In the Appendix about custom settings (p.410), it's in a table:

Illumination, Outer Foot Light: Default - ON, Custom - OFF

I guess the dealer handout doesn't show every setting?

Anyway, it could mean there's a good chance it hasn't been customized, since no one reads the manual...but me.

Not a bad idea to check the fusebox. I will, but I doubt these two lights are on their own circuit. But maybe there are other problems I have not found yet.

Hopefully the bulbs are just out. I got the LEDs today and found a good video on YouTube showing how to remove the mirror. That's the only tricky part.

Thanks for the help.

Unhappy

Damn. After taking apart the side mirror and temporarily swapping the bulb with an LED (it was too long), still no light.

I checked most of the fuses that seemed related, no problem found.

Turns out the Owner's Manual is wrong. It says this light "comes on automatically when you approach the vehicle [with key]" along with the front and rear courtesy lights. But it doesn't. The other lights come on, but for this one you have to use the unlock button, which I have never used at night, apparently.

So now I have working lights, but two extra LEDs. Wonder if they'll fit in the trunk?

Wait yea they do. When I walk up to my car, my front and rear dome lights turn on, as well as the lights underneath the side mirrors. When I just press unlock on the key fob, this happens as well.

The bulbs in the mirror need to be short, but those LEDs that you got should be able to fit in the courtesy lights on the bottom of your doors. The stock covers are red though.

Yep. I went out to see if the bulb would fit in the trunk and when I walked up, the lights were on. It doesn't seem to do it every single time, maybe only when several minutes have passed?

So now I'm not sure if I never noticed, or if the bulb was in backwards before I started. Both seem just as unlikely.

Oh well. Glad it's working.

Thanks for the tip on where I might use the other bulbs.

Suggestion for the owner's manual. Print an outline of all these little bulbs in actual size?

Oh, your bulbs might be loose then lol. I had that issue when the LEDs I put into the mirror puddle lights weren't secure so they would rattle a little bit while driving and made it random if the bulbs would work or not.

I have replaced all my bulbs with LEDs, there are a few guides on this site to show you what types of bulbs and sizes work for your car.

Those LEDs that you have fit into your flip-down visor light too! Probably a better use than the door courtesy lights

Yes they do--there's just a slight delay. By the time you reach the car to unlock it, it's too late. Next time stand there for a few seconds before unlocking.
