07 IS350 vs 09 G8 GT
What would the outcome look like?
G8 GT
0-60: 5.1
1/4: 13.6
IS350
0-60: 4.8
1/4: 13.3
On paper the IS350 is faster by a tiny tiny bit but how would it look in person? The G8 GT is a 6.0L V8 engine compared to the IS350 which is a 3.5L V6.

Wow I'm impressed. I didn't know the IS350 was quicker than a G8 (On paper at least) I really like those cars! It even has a bigger engine than the ISF lool. Anyways the numbers are pretty close it's probably done to the driver and tires

My friend just bought a G8 GT so I did some research on it because he wants a go since I always beat him in his older car. The G8 GT puts out around 285-295hp to the rear wheels and I guess the ECU is some dumbed down from factory that people have dyno'd to over 300whp with just simple CAI and tune. Pretty crazy. Definitely would be very very close.

As for the stats you posted, where did you get them from? Road&Track clocked their's at 4.9 0-60 which was the fastest of any publication. Lexus used to claim 5.3 on their website before changing it to 5.6 around 2010. Not that the IS350 isn't capable of 4.8, because we've seen 4.6, but that was with optimal variables.

Check out Lil4cyl's post, his encounter was a little strange. I believe it has to do with both the gearing and the weight of the vehicles

Of course those aren't solid numbers to go off but it seems like other's personal experiences that it would be a very close race

0 to 60 in 4.8 and 1/4 mile in 13.3 is reported by zeroto60times.com
IMO Road and Track gives the most accurate performance figures (0 to 60 in 4.9, 1/4 mile in 13.5 for the IS350)
Yeah there's no question an IS350 vs an 09 G8 GT is a close race. It's probably dead even from 0.
I've personally raced one from 40 (2nd gear) to about 80 (end of 3rd gear) and it was dead even.

By the way I would not recommend doing a roll race from any other speed. If you want to roll race, it's 40 MPH @ 2nd gear and nothing else.
I suppose you could roll from 5-10 MPH in 1st gear as well.
40 @ 2nd gear is pretty optimal for the IS350 as far as roll racing is concerned.

Ok I found exact acceleration profiles for both the IS350 and G8 GT
IS350:
G8 GT:
As you can see it's dead even from 0 to 100 MPH (12.7 seconds)
This pretty much confirms what I already knew (based on actually racing one from 40 to 80 in the past).

Note that the G8 GT plays "catchup" as speed increases.
In fact, the G8 GT is faster from 60 to 100 by a healthy .4 seconds
40 to 80 is virtually identical for both the IS350 and G8 GT (5.6 seconds for the IS350 to 5.5 seconds for the G8 GT).
Point of the story is you'll get beat from any roll race 60 MPH or above, and you'll win from a dig through 100 MPH.

Those G8's are beasts, but they come in at a hefty 4000lbs, nearly 500lbs heavier than our IS's, which, (besides our gearing) is why can keep up or beat the G8. But I warn you, if the G8 is in anyway modded then all bets are off, then you will most likely be seeing taillights So beat him now while he's stock!

Its actually not dead even according to those numbers, which reflects my experience. By 100mph, the IS350 would be(according to numbers and not real life experience) 11 meters ahead of the G8 due to the quicker accelleration in the blocks going up to 100
