Could this possibly be the chip (the box with the purple connector) it's cleaner than everything else, suggesting its aftermarket. It's seems to run to the middle of the engine. I'm not an engine man, so not sure if it is.....

To clarify, what I got was a black box diesel chip, not a retune or remap of the ecu, which is a sealed unit. Guy wouldn't commit to figures except to say up to 50% increased power and possible 4-8 extra mpg. I got 50% more power (188bhp to 241bhp) and I got 10 more mpg (33%) increase.

Far better performance from the car. In UK the manual diesels are notorious for having lag in lower gears and 6th gear being useless below 70mph. My chip eradicates both complaints.

Not a sales ploy, I'm not selling it, just sharing my experience. Hope this clears any issues up.

188hp to 241hp isn't 50% but that's a pretty big jump. Does your car actually feel that much quicker and did your guy put it on a dyno? I think I read another post where a guy got his 220d chipped to 220 hp and 460 nm torque (340 lb/ft) or something... so much torque

Couldn't find graph from independent Dyno test done few weeks later but found original invoice that says tuning box fitted and that it was run on their Dyno. Also receipt showing payment in January just in case people think I hand wrote the invoice

Points to note: Got my BHP wrong, so it's 178 as standard not 188, and I got back 231bhp not 241bhp. Apologies.

Fuel consumption as per computer display, up from 28-30mpg to 40-42mpg

That enough evidence?

Out of curiousity, what mpg do you guys get from a IS250 petrol? And how much per tank or per litre for fuel do you pay?

I have an IS250 and only average 24 mpg hahaha
Still better than the 16 mpg I averaged in my 2008 Accord v6 LOL
I'm just that kind of driver

For a full tank here in Texas I pay about $60USD for premium unleaded

Haha compared to here in UK, we pay (quick conversion) $90 for a tank. You can see why mpg is so important here!

Well considering how good your MPG is as well as your 220d being tune-able to have more power than my IS250, I want a diesel too lol.
I don't know why there aren't more diesel vehicles in the US besides trucks. Guess there's no market for them here. My dad told me it's because here, diesels engines are label as being dirty or bad or something :/

Lol diesels here out perform petrols. They are more efficient, smoother, often quicker. Most cars here are diesel now. Isn't it crazy how the world is and cultural differences.

Just about any car that has a turbo can be easily moded.... Doesnt matter if its a diesel or a petrol engine.

On another note....curious to see if they will discountinue the IS200d and IS220d when the IS300h arrives next year though.

I get about 25-35 mpg mixed (depending on how careful I am), 35-44 mpg motorway on my IS250 petrol.

I've got 44 mpg (indicated) about 42 mpg pump/odometer on a midnight run from the North West to London and back. (I did 500 miles on the tank, and had an estimated 5 litres remaining).
