Default Short Shifter

Installed a genuine short shifter on an IS250 last week. Quite an easy install if you have a hoist,
just undid tailpipe section from mid pipe at swivel (so no gasket replacement needed), then undo and drop trans cross member, now shift mechanism is accessible. remove existing boot cover, remove c-clip and take out shift lever from selector rod, slide off old boot and slide on new one. install short shifter to shift lever, it says to apply Toyota fipg to either side of s/shifter so it bolts together and stays sealed, I have FIPG which I used but any silicone sealer will do, and then attach to selector rod, re install c-clip and then what I found to be the hardest part of the job slide new boot cover over mechanism and secure by pulling up over all to sit tight up against aluminum mount. Refit cross member and two exhaust bolts with springs. Hope this helps for anyone wondering how...

I always wondered what it looked like installed. Can't believe I paid to have this installed at the dealer. Oh well.

Glad to help, good luck with your install, I forgot to mention to undo the exhaust heat shield and slide it towards the rear to make access easier, it has sharp edges too...

Sorry to bring up an old thread but seeing that there are no more short shifters out there I'm going to have to design one myself or work with someone to make one.

Does the F sport shifter "Cover" and extend the oem shifter or does it replace the bottom half portion of the shift lever?

From what I can tell it covers the oem bottom portion and makes a new connection an inch lower for the shift linkage. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you know who still sells it? It's been a wild goose chase looking for one. I had my friend at Lexus look it up and the last one in the system sold in San Deigo the day I was looking haha.

It just covers over the existing. A good CNC guy can replicate this, let us know if you can get one made and I'd be interested in a group buy.

will keep you posted. Taking measurements on an extra transmission I bought and then I'll do some 2D drawings, just have to find someone to convert to 3D, 3D print a prototype and then boom. Or just give all the info to FIGS and let him handle it haha.

It extends the shifter approx. 25mm. In case you were wondering.

It seems the boot may actually be the harder part to source.

Nice work. I really wish they would have made a manual IS350.
