Hey guys.
So my VSC, CEL, and Traction light came on the other week.
I went to Platinum VIP and Kennedy took care of the codes for me, and wiped it but told me what was happening. I was told it was an Engine misfire, so I'm going to take it into Longo Lexus.
I haven't had my car taken in for diagnostics yet, but I talked to someone and he mentioned that the manager did not approve of the TOP ENGINE CLEAN IF I am approved of the piston ring replacement.
Is this true? I have experienced some rough stops and I had always wanted to do the cleaning, but I am only 20 and I wouldn't be able to get a loaner car so I never pushed it...
Does anyone know what I can do to get both of them done?
This is at Longo btw.
EDIT: My car is currently at 63,xxx miles and I did my 60k service. Is there anything else I should get done while they're at it?

Hey, guys. Went to the local Lexus dealer. Explained to the Service Rep. about the cars symptoms. He recommended a Tech Specialist take a look at it, he estimated 1.5 hrs. An hour later, the Service Rep. presented documentation of cylinder #1 misfire. Subsequently, he ordered new pistons/rings and billed Lexus Corp. for everything. Surprisingly, the car was washed and detailed before they gave it back to me. Complimentary car also on hand the day I drop it off. Estimated three day wait beginning next Wednesday when service begins. They looked at the car this morning. As of now, the car has approx. 100K.
Excellent service, however I'm hoping no surprises on the back end.

Hello everyone, new member here just purchased a 2008 IS250 for my wife and our soon to arrive baby boy. I have been reading up on the Carbon build up thread and finally got thru most of it. I called the Lexus dealership and asked them if they can check if my vehicle is part of this program. I was ready to give my VIN and the service writer told me he can't look it up by VIN and I would have to just come in if I experience the symptoms associated with this issue.
I thought I read I can call the dealership and give my VIN and they could possible check? Is this true or not? Also, is this something that will eventually happen to all 2010 and earlier models due to the engine design? I only have 29K on this 2008 lexus so still a ways to go as I see a lot of members have issues around 60k or more. Thanks in advance for any help!
BTW, first Lexus and we LOVE this car! =)

It's been about 8 months for me now and no calls or anything from Lexus of Riverside regarding my parts coming in.
I guess I will give corporate a call as someone else suggested or try another dealership like Longo

Hi all, so I took the car in on Friday to have it checked. My history is:
- Oct 2012 - top engine clean at dealership, after having the rpm dipping under 500 at a stop light (car shaking, almost stall like symptoms) after going on hwy
- March and then May 2013, very similar incidents where stopped at traffic light, rpm would go down for a second or so, then go up to about 1000rpm then back to normal
-June (last Friday) - they checked the car, no error codes in current, pending, or history queues
Car is an 07IS250 AWD, never had any lights coming on.
So my conclusion is that there is a little glitch in the onboard computer/ fuel injection that is causing that temporary drop in rpm in the transitional state from running to full stop. It is very intermittent so diagnosing something like that would be very hard.
Am I onto something here?
