I agree, I had my water pump and belt replaced. They didn't charge me for labor so it's good, I think it'll be the same case with you.

Just curious, were you out of warranty. I know water pump should be covered under warranty, 70k miles

I'm way out of warranty. I have 140k miles and I got the car in 2006.

Dropped my car off on Sat after i got the check engine light and just got a phone call that my car was approved for the repair by Lexus. Supposedly the computer indicated a lot of major misfire issues and because of that, they can fix it ASAP. I asked about the timing on the parts and they said they should have it done by the end of this week!

They did ask about replacing the spark plugs and water pump, but I declined since I already replaced those myself. Might have them replace the accessory belt though since I didn't replace it when I changed the water pump.

Hope I get my car as good as new. It's been good to me so far the last 7 years!

Same for the spark plugs... if you haven't already changed them might as well as long as they charge for just parts. I would also have the accessory belt done, relatively cheap part and again the labor should be free anyways.
Thanks for the input. The water pump had a very small leak so I went ahead and had it replaced. The tech pulled out the old plugs which the previous owner had replaced (I've probably only put 5k miles on it since I've owned it) and they're some cheap-o plugs they installed - having those replaced with the stock denso iridium. I had him check the belts and everything looked good. Should be picking my car up this afternoon. I dropped it off on 5/16 for them to check for the carbon build-up issue and they called me 8 days later that it was ready to go.

On my 07 is250 I had the top engine clean done in Oct. Up until now, I had two instances where car almost stalled when stopped at traffic light. I have an appointment at the dealer next Friday morning, I have no lights/ errors coming up (never had). What should I expect? Car was still under warranty in Oct, not anymore now.
I don't just want to pay the 125$ for a check.

Anyone has experience with this? Thx

it's a known issue that is covered by a tsb and since you had issues while in warranty i don't see them denying you. i would be vocal about it and call lexus corporate if the dealership says no.

They wont rest the odometer as the vehicle physically has the mileage on the odometer. What you should do is keep the paperwork that identifies the mileage at which the engine was overhauled for this issue.

it was like driving a new car for awhile, but then the rough idle and shaking at lights will return unfortunately. it's not a permanent fix. really disappointed in this aspect of the car and doubt they fixed the issue in the new model coming out soon.

Said they also cleaned the top end again, I'm guessing that it is part of the repair and not something extra they did.

I'm holding off on the rebuild as long as I can. All these large repairs is not going to help resale value if someone has access to a computer and your car's records. =(

I am just wondering did they charge you the labor to remove and install the water pump? My is250 is in for piston replacement, but the dealership wants to charge $160 + labor to do the water pump...
