2011 Lexus IS 250 F-Sport Package with High Miles!! Need Opinion
Can you guys please help....need opinion/advice
I am interested in this 2011 Lexus IS 250 F-Sport Package for sale by owner. It has 52,000 miles on it already. And it comes with a 5yr/100,000 mile warranty (expiring Oct 2015). Do you think that I should be worried about the high mileage on it? I know that they usually last forever, but within almost 2 yrs there's 52,000 miles already on it. Let me know, I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow. Thanks

It's almost always highway miles. Hopefully. Ask about that, and if yes then why. Highway miles aren't that bad. I have an 08 IS250 with 114,000 miles (most hwy) and it still runs and drives like new with no major repair at all. Also get it inspected. Unless you're rich, whatever you're spending on the car is going to be a lot of money. Better safe than sorry.

As far as mechanically, when you find a new year car with high mileage, such as this one with 26k per year, that means it is all highway. And highway miles are the BEST for a car. Engine stays strong and powerful. So realistically speaking, the car should be in perfect mechanical shape. The wear on the engine could easily be the same as a car with say 10k miles that does all city driving.
So this is where you have an advantage, because you should get a very good discount because of its high mileage, but at the same time you will enjoy a car that could be easily in as good mechanical shape as a car with 10k miles.
Plus its got the warranty, id definitely go for it. but ONLY for the right price!

High milage WITH warranty might be fine... for now. But once warranty runs out by hitting the milage limit, you'll definitely have a harder time selling it on. Plus with high miles, you're going to trigger the "Lexus required maintenance" schedule more frequently than an older, low milage car. So that will be more costly in the long run. Be sure the current owner has all the service records up to date.
