Default Wow so my sensor shattered and I almost lost my front wheel

So I spent a whole day getting my wheel sensors customized to fit my SSR MS3 wheels. Guy double mounted the brackets with the sensors. First thing, I came back cause i kept hearing it rattle and that is where he double mounted the sensor to the wheel. He had to fully customize it and sort of drilled a bigger hole.

I leave and then 3 minutes once I get onto the freeway I can feel my driver's side wheel forcing me to turn left and i kept hearing noises. I pulled over 5 miles later to get this different tire shop to check it out and boom the tire was not fully on to the wheel and glad nothing happened to the wheel.

He mounts off the wheel and sees my sensor completely shattered but the battery. My brand new ACHILLES tire also is no longer good cause the sidewall is messed up due to the drive.

So I basically wasted a whole day for my sensor to shatter and my tire to mess up. My tire sensor light is now on.

I should've went with my idea of getting the strap sensors rather than getting the brackets customized.

I asked the worker what could've caused the problem and he said my air valve couldve been the problem leaking air since it was loose. Now I am scared the other TPMS will shatter like this one when the air valve loses air. Any suggestion guys?

Yeah make sure the gasket on the valve are sealed tight. After install have them sit for a few days to see if the leak. If it a bad seal it will leak within a day. Make you use the water/soap on the valve to see if it bubbles. I had it happen the first I did mine. By the way did you use the iforged Adapters? Watch them mount the tires make sure were the sensor are they be careful. If they don't and the tire hit it on mounting valve stem comes lose there for leaks.

as i've said in another thread, multi-piece SSR wheels are not TPMS compatible. and whoever recommended the iForged adapters are should also know that they do NOT work for multi-piece SSR wheels (they will for two-piece volk racing wheels, i.e. SF-/GT-series).

either have a reputable wheel machine shop drill a hole specificially for your TPMS sensors, or strap your TPMS sensors to the barrel. refer back to that thread for the link, or search "TPMS strap" in google.

when all else fails, build a TPMS pipe bomb as others have mentioned, or just run them without the sensors and have the light stare back at you.

no thanks on the lawsuit lol.

Ok guys so here is my problem now.

I have 3 sensors on my wheels right now from the custom brackets he made. One sensor is gone so I will need another sensor. I also need a front new tire due to the sidewall getting messed up from the drive to the other tire shop.

Damn problems keep adding up.

Should I just tell the guy to mount off all the custom TPMS brackets he made for me and pipe bomb all 3 and wait for the other 1 to come in? I will also have to get the new one programmed. ANother bummer

ProjectDNA the iforged adapter work on my 3 piece Weds for the last 3 yrs. If done right it fit without a problem. But then again I don't know about SSR.

save the sensors while you still can. pull the remaining sensors out and run a TPMS pipe bomb.

ask around for tire shops that can reprogram your new TPMS sensor. IIRC, most major tire chains can do this for you. some mom-and-pop shops have TPMS readers, so they can do it too. just ask around.

it's not as bad as you think. make the best of a worst situation, and consider it a learning experience.

almost every single SSR thread i've read, no one w/ multi-piece SSR wheels have been able to run TPMS sensors properly.

on the other hand, TPMS sensors work fine for their one-piece wheels. my best guess is that it's due to the design of the multi-piece wheel that makes it incompatible.

I still say putting them in your spare tire is a better idea than the pipe bomb.
