Default Side window/door frame molding (?) forming ridges

I recently noticed that there seems to be these ridges of sorts on the the molding (not sure if that's what it's called) on the edges. They are about 1.5 inches long ... I have 2 of those on the driver side and one on the passenger side. Does anyone have these on their door/window frame?

I took a pic with my phone, if it's not that clear, I can take another with my DSLR.

Molding is obviously going bad. How new is your IS?

It's almost 4 years old, got a few more months. I'll take it to the dealer and let them have a look. I thought it's a weird way of going bad ... instead of cracking or something, it forms these ruffles have ridges.

It does look very odd. See what they've got to say. What's the worst they'll say...no? LOL!

I have that exact issue on the passenger side. I thought it was caused by the tint guys playing with their heat gun around the car but now that i see you have the same issue i do not know what caused it. Unless you took your car to the same tinting shop?
Mine is an 07 awd, let's see what we can find.
Is there any easy way to replace that piece of trim?

I'm not sure, I bought the car used and it's already tinted. I post here because I'm not sure if it's damage or a defect. I'll take the car to the dealer in a few weeks.

The parts are available from Sewell parts for $35 (front piece) and $45 (back piece), not sure how easy it's to install though. http://is.sewellparts.com/oem-catalo...S350-2012.html

Possibly screws and or double sided tape. No need to take it to the dealer try it yourself, if you cant get it right or aligned then take it to any bodyshop
