it is better to take off the door panel, becaude the tweeter pod is in the way and if you remove the panel then it will make for a better job and easier installation. door panel is easy to remove. just make sure they do a good job on the rear window! because if it has to be redone you will be in for a surprise ( defrost lines will be removed, even if a steamer is used) this applies to the IS models that i am aware of.

You don't have to take the door panels off, but some people/shops prefer to. The shop I took it to did so and they did an excellent job making sure they were careful with it too.

If the right shop does it, the door panels don't need to be removed.

The shop that did my tint pulled the door panels. Just made it easier for them to deal with the tweeter pods sticking up. They did a great job, and you shouldn't be concerned about them pulling the door panels if they are a reputable shop. When i called my guy and told him the make and model, he already knew that the tweets stuck up and would be an issue. He had done IS's before....... Just a couple of screws hold the panels on anyway. Not a big deal at all.

The defroster lines will peel too?! I was thinking about getting the light tint the dealer put on before i bought the car and get something darker, but now i'm iffy
