Question Can 2012 OEM headlights be plonked directly into pre 2011 IS's ?

I really need all valuable OEM CL members to confirm the below urgently as my vehicle is at the workshop and most probably won't get the 2012 head lights .

Can we install 2012 OEM headlights onto pre 2011 model IS ( 2010 and before models ) with stock 2010 front bumpers ? Or do we have to fix even the 2012 bumpers as my advisor insists on this.

I recently met with an accident and my front bumpers and headlight's needed to be replaced. My car is fully insured and is a 2010 model car. Now the issue is my dealership says that they can fix the 2012 headlights in my car with all the required connectors etc. But they also insist that the front bumpers , liners , fenders (along with a lot of other things in front) all need to be replaced into the 2012 model.

Now the thing is my Insurance will pay for all the equivalent 2010 OEM parts and I would have to pay only the difference in costs for the 2012 OEM parts. Sad thing is the difference in cost for all those 2012 OEM parts which would fit in the front would set me back by around 6,000 $ according to my dealership.

I just want to know if my dealership is asking me to change everything along with the 2012 headlights just to discourage me from fitting it or is it really necessary to replace the whole front with all the 2012 OEM parts ?

If i only had to change to 2012 OEM headlights , the difference in cost for me would be just 600 $ which I would gladly accept.

Please advice.I'm kinda desperate since my car is ready for work at the workshop and I told them to go ahead with the 2010 parts itself as installing 2012 bits were way too expensive though being just the difference in cost.

I will use all your valuable advise's to make up my mind and final decision.

if your headlights are afs they would be about the same price for the 2012 well at least for Lexus of Manhattan is. They were quoting me 1200 for each afs headlight and i decided to buy the 2012 from sewell that cost 1800 stripped and they have a promo code where you can get them for 1200. If you buy them from sewell they are plug and play.

Thanks for the update buddy. I am aware that Sewell are selling plug n play headlights. I so badly want them too , but I don't think I can get it here on time plus I don't know if my dealership will agree to install Sewell products. I can try one last ditch effort and ask them to just install the 2012 headlights showing our threads without any of the bumpers etc and I could tell them that I will come and sit and their workshop to help do with the wiring. Lets hope they agree.
