Where is and how I can get access to the car's
ECU?
I'm waiting to receive an aftermarket ecu that plugs in parallel to the car's ecu.
I think that the car's ECU is located behind the glove box but after removing the three screws located on the front of the glove box compartment the unit won't still come out.
Has anybody removed the glovebox? Am'I right thinking that the ECU is behind the glovebox compartment?
I would appreciate any help with that.
Thanks
G.

Can you post a link to the product you bought? Because unless your car is a diesel most "plug in with your ECU" products for the 2IS are scams.
(the ones that aren't are in the $700-800 and up range)

The unit costs around 1200 euro new.
The car is a 2006 IS 220d with the 2.2 litre turbo charged, diesel Toyota engine.
Am'I looking at the right area?
I now have a unit that costs 700euro and controls the turbo boost and commorail pressure but this new unit is way more complex and plugs directly in the car's computer.
Here is a pic of the ecu.

I think about 99.999% of members here with a 2IS have the gasoline version, which doesn't have a product like this, and I imagine is wired rather differently, so might be tough to get a lot of help.
If in a huge hurry you can spend $15 and get 48 hours access to TIS, which is what the dealers use and has complete diagrams and info on everything to do with every vehicle Toyota/Lexus makes/made-

TIS is not what he should use, there will be no IS220d information on there.

Toyota-Tech Europe is where he wants to go, you can subscribe hourly, though it is considerably more expensive than TIS.
As for where the ECU is, it's in the same place on both the gasoline and diesel versions, and that is the LH side of the engine bay, near the front of the engine bay.

Thank you Kurtz, thank you Jeff.
The connectors coming out of the unit can be plugged directly in the cars ecu so there will be no need to cut and solder anything. They all have also different design so they plug in specific ports.
I have look to a couple of areas around the engine bay but all i can find is the injectors driver and 2 boxes of fuses on the right hand side standing in front of the car.
Are you sure it isn't inside the car somewhere?
The guys in the UK forum don't know either....
