Default New is350 owner few questions

ive had the car for a month or so now and love it. i bought a 09 with 26k on it. i have a few questions:
  1. When i plug my phone into the charger and then also plug the aux input in the radio hisses badly is that my phone? or is that something they will fix?
  2. i contacted jerry johnson for the platinum warranty, any suggestions on which one i should buy? i have 8 months or so to get it, 7yr or 8 yr? i only drive around 10k/yr but should i get the longer (75k or 100k) one in case i sell it? i know it can be transferred
  3. is there a installable radar detector that will show alerts on the screen?
  4. i have a set of 5 spoke is300 wheels can i use these for my winter wheels?

I can answer the first 2 at least-

Item 1 is a known issue, free fix under 4yr/50k warranty

2. Personally I went with the 8 yr 75k mile one, because I also don't put a ton of miles on, and this way I could sell the car at 7 years and the remaining full year (and probably 20k miles) of warranty would be a good value add to increase the sale price of the vehicle.... the cost to go from 8yr/75k to 8yr/100k was significant enough I didn't think it was worth it given in the remaining year of warranty you'd be hard pressed to need those additional 25k miles on top of the probably 20k that'll already be left.

Do you know if the cost of the extended warranty will depend on what options you have? Like if you have nav, it would be more expensive or not really?

Fixes it somewhat. I had the TSB done, and mine still hisses, when plugged into the charger. Doesn't hiss when not charging.

then you didn't get it fixed properly, take it back.

The problem is a ground loop. Which never happens unless it's plugged into the power in the car anyway.

if it's still hissing when it's plugged in then it's not fixed.

I don't think so, at least none of the places I got quoted from asked (and didn't request my VIN until after the quote so it's not like they could've looked it up)... only info they needed to quote was year and model of the car

Both, there's no difference in the stereo electronics of the 2 cars

2 options-

Do the Lexus fix, which is this:
http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2008/5403.html

$145.30 with the CL discount... and either install yourself, or pay the probably $220ish in labor your dealer will want to do it.

Or

Spend 10-20 bucks on an external ground loop isolator from amazon or radio shack.... something like this:

Amazon Amazon

(disclaimer- not endorsing that specific one, just was among the first results of a search)

the first option will be invisible once installed, but obviously a lot more expensive.

The second will work exactly as well but require an extra device/wires sitting inside the console storage area.

L2-LEXUS, IS 350

6 YEAR 70,000 MILES $830.00,
6 YEAR 100,000 MILES $1,275.00

7 YEARS 75,000 MILES $1,255.00,
7 YEAR 100,000 MILES $1,615.00

8 YEAR 75,000 MILES $1,415.00
8 YEARS 100,000 MILES $1,960.00

is what i was quoted. im leaning to the 8/75k option. i dont drive a ton. im thinking ill be able to sell it at 7 yrs and have around 20k left on warranty. the platinum waranty is transferable one time for $50 i guess.

does anyone know an easy way to find the exact in service date? so i can easily tell the last date of warranty?

i dont think the waranty is based on options but my car is pretty much loaded. it doesnt have the luxury package but it does have all the add ons, nave, xeons, park distance, not sure what else but seems like everything but the mem seats, rain wippers and the rear sunshade.

id actually really like to see a build sheet and a original price on the car.

You have the answers to 1 and 2. So lets go to three. I have not seen an aftermarket Lidar detector integrate with the OE Nav screen before. There are aftermarket Nav units that MAYBE could integrate...but I highly doubt it could be possible with the OE Nav unit.

Question 4, they are the same lug pattern...but will the IS300 wheels fit over the BIGGER front calipers up front? Dont' know, but I'm sure someone on here has tried before.

Take your VIN to any lexus dealer and he can tell you the original in service date (and what it was optioned with from the factory).... but if it doesn't have memory seats it's nowhere close to loaded (loaded would not only require the sport or luxury pack it'd also require Mark Levinson with nav, the pre-collision system, and all the other standalone options (XM, headlamp washers, park assist, etc)

A fully loaded 350 (and I've only seen like 2, ever, on here) was over 50k sticker price from the factory.

3...MINE, under 2006 standards, mine was almost as loaded as it could get.

IS350 only options missing, sport pak (from what i understand, could not do sport and Lux) NO pre collision (VERY rare in 2006)

Originally Equipped with...
Luxury package
Headlamp washers
Park Distance
Mark Levinson with NAV
Factory SAT radio
G Spider wheels (upgrade wheels in 2006)
Rear shade (lux, I think)
Dual memory seats (lux, I think)
Illuminated scuff plates
Rear Lip Spoiler
Annoying fuel injector ticking sound
Loose rear view mirror

I thought the pre collision package was discontinued for 09 and newer. Mine has headlight washers, nav (not the mark levenson one). So I guess I should restate it. Mine is loaded in terms of options I would actually care about. Yes premium sound would be nice.

My brothe has an is250awd with the premium package. I think his really does have everything but the pre collision package. The door sills are cool, but not really needed. I do wish it had the tilt passenger mirror. I forgot it doesn't have that. The auto tilt passenger mirror would be really nice.

I looked for a while for a 350. They are quite hard to find. So when this one came up I took it. Even my local dealer said 60-90 days to get a new one. I had been looking for about 6 weeks, and this one came in. I could have bought dozens of is250 awd with any set of options I wanted. Does anyone know the ratio of 250/350s built?
