Default rear tow hook or bumper guard

I don't happen to have a garage I can park my ISx50 so I park it on the street. I try to get a space where it only allows one car and then leave it there a few days. I take the train to work and use this car as my weekend / fun car. However, there are days when I have to park it in the front of another car or behind another car. I find that my rear bumper has been getting dinged with scratches from license plate frame screws. I'm getting pissed!

So my solution was to get a bumper guard from bumpersecurity.com for about 30 bucks. Then I thought, IF i had rear TOW hook, that'll just tap their bumper giving them a "too close" nudge.

Thoughts?

You could attach it to your rear tow hook but it's connected to the frame. so if someone hits you hard enough, you could possible damage your frame.

Lol i bet you if you got the bumper guard someone would think it's not a problem if they hit you parking. The problem is the Bumperguard only protects against scuffs and scratches, it wont prevent the paint from cracking or the bumper being dented in if its hit hard enough.

It'll only work til you walk around the back of the car and damn near break your leg when you trip over it. Would NOT recommend!

went ahead and bought the bumper guard. Fed up with all these small little dings. I think I might make the car alarm more sensitive so I can check to see who keeps doing this! Is there any legal action I can take against the other car?

As far as the bumper guard, yeah taking that risk that these people don't hit it hard enough to dent the car but more of just tap.

get a dash cam but install it in the rear window. just hardwire it so you can use the parking feature. it'll record whenever it senses movement.

recommendation of a camera? I was thinking this as well and was reading some threads about different options. Form a 500+ camera to a ebay $60.00. I skimmed over most of the posts about a "parking feature" but if you know of any that would be great.

My bike rack keeps all cars away from my bumper. I don't keep it on the whole time but when I go to publick parking spaces and I have it on, it does the trick just fine. Just protect the paint where the cussions rest.

Vidoe Substantial damage must have been caused by a single car for a person to have a strong case in court (my opinion). Collective scratches caused by different cars How can you prove with video that a specific damage was inflicted by car in question?
You will need to have an impeccable bumper each time you start your surveillance journey.
As a defendant, I will have a very elobarated case and present it to the judge. Let him decide.
By that time, you would have already lost time off work and sleep.

Making your alarm more sentive to movement will only take night sleep from you.
Just my opinions here

good luck

I put this on. That should give them a subtle hint.

I've seen people hang boat bumpers out of their trunks to protect their cars...looks kinda ridiculous but it gets the job done. haha

I use a blackvue 400g. It's a $200ish camera. video quality is pretty amazing. You can research the $60 but the video quality is ok. But you mainly need the parking mode.
