If you feel like swapping everything then just the housing will be fine. You will lose the AFS feature going to the new headlight style.

Ok, well that is not an ideal option. Is there any reason why AFS won't work? Don't the 2011+ headlights come with AFS? I am guessing it is because of the computer?

Anyway to have both AFS, and the new style headlights w/LED DRL?

Does anyone have a link to buy the Headlights since Sewell closed?

Good job. Improved and modern looks. Love the LED accents.

Lexus discontinued the feature after 2010 - Correct, the ECU will be constantly looking for the AFS system and in the new headlights it is not there.

Will it throw a code or light on the dash?

No codes but you will have a flashing AFS light in the lower left corner of your gauge cluster

I recently installed a set of brand new prewired 2013 headlights onto my 09 ISF. They look great and I currently just have them set in the plug and play condition. I however have noticed sometimes when I turn my headlights on, my driver side HID bulb will be off. If I turn the headlights off and back on, it will start working again. Is this signs of a bad ballast? Wondering if anyone has had this issue

I just had to replace a ballast and your symptoms sound very similar to mine. Where did you purchase? If they are new they have a 12 month warranty from purchase date, I believe the ballast is covered since it is part of the unit. Mine was not because they swapped over my components and just replaced the housing.

I bought them off ebay. I am going to switch the left and right bulbs around first and see if the problems transfers over. That will tell me its the bulbs. If its the ballast, i should be able to transfer my ballast from my 09 lights.

I just want to say thanks for the article. If I ever do a D.I.Y thread, this is a prime example of how to write one and very useful for me personally since I need to do something similar in the future. But my version will likely get the Morimoto M-Led Bi-LED installation and I know there are things that need to be modified.

nice, what year is your IS? I want to still do this to my 07 because my lights are nasty from the sun and dont have the cool LED look. Where did you get the lights since i read that Sewell is not around anymore? I always wanted to get the side-mirror covers for my 07 so that I had the blinking turn signals, always wanted to just get the red/clear taillights because I didnt like the red/amber setup...

Did my 07 like 4 years ago, still looks great. Also you can find newer style tails on ebay that seem to be great quality for like 200-250(More like 3rd gen is for 2nd gen) May wanna search around to see if there's a particular one you like.
