Also a quick note. I doubt this will ever be of any practical use to you, but it's still good to know, since you have an '06 IS350, the only way you can fully disable traction control is to do the following procedure -

Benefits of having traction control off - better acceleration off the line: "With the 2007 Lexus IS 350's traction control shut down, we managed to find nearly a half-second improvement in its acceleration profile"

http://www.insideline.com/bmw/3-seri...us-is-350.html

1st gear acceleration with traction control on and traction control disengaged is pretty stark, but again, for daily driving purposes it makes little difference, but still I thought I should point it out to you since you have an '06.

Did you have any issues with your M3? How much did you drive a year? Im afriad to get one some day because maintaince may break my bank. My current IS is my toy really, only driven 10-12k a year. But the low maintainance and better reputation is why I want to stick with it for now

Nope, it was a great car i was averaging ab 10,000 miles per year. I was meticulous with the maint on it. It was not a cheap car to own, but if you took care of it you will avoid expensive breaks due to lack of care. The most expensive thing for me was inspection II at 50,000 miles ($1,500), but that's bc it requires a valve adjustment. Then your good to go for another 50k.
If you end up buying one, make sure you can verify all maint records, get a PPI done, check the vanos and look for sub frame cracks. Other than that they are solid. I will end up buying another one at some point down the rd

I'm gonna drive this car ab 20,000 miles per year. I was looking at the E60 M5, E63 AMG and the ISF, but with those kind of miles it would depreciate the car like crazy and gas mpg is less than desirable.
The IS350, fit my situation perfectly right now.

This is exactly how I ended up with the IS350, I drive about 20,000 miles a year, needed 4 doors, RWD, at least 300hp, and reliability. I basically only drive it to work during the week and not really on the weekend.

Too funny, yea the criteria was searching for it hit all categories:

Can put a lot of miles on it: Check
4 doors: Check
RWD: Check
300hp: Check
reliable: Check
Good market for after MODs: Check
Wife can drive: Check

Congrats on the IS350, It will server you right as a family car. I still have my E46 M3 (unfortunately non ZCP) as a fun car and my IS250AWD as a daily winter driver. Where you on M3 forums before? What mods did you have done on your M3?

Nice car looked sweet. Yeah it is my plan to turn the M3 into track/street car, so I can take it road racing. Yeah I need to do a bit of work this spring to get it ready for summer fun (valve adjustment, replace drivers side lower control arm, new tires, brake fluid change, rear diff and gearbox oil chnage). Next big upgrade for me on the M3 will have to be brakes.

The nice thing about the IS it is really maintenance free compared to the M3.

I also had an M3 and loved it, very interesting to find many fellow IS 350 owners who had M3's and now own the x50's. Welcome and enjoy CL..

Sold my M3 to the same friend I bought it from, kinda kool. Miss it though.
Hopefully be able to buy the car I sold to him last year back soon.
