Default rough idle *without* rpm's dropping? Huh???

<2008 IS250, a/t, 23k miles, all service done>

Today I was stopped at a left turn arrow when my car started shaking for about five seconds. This was different from the carbon build-up shake when the rpm's dip and pop back up only for a second's time. Once the shaking started, I looked at the tach and there was no movement from the normal idle at all. It lasted about five seconds, which was longer than the past times when the rpm's momentarily dropped and bounced up (I'm pretty sure I do have a prior carbon build-up issue). No warning lights appeared either. So was this another form of the carbon build-up infliction, or something new?

I had a similar thing happen to me, I was pulling out of a parking spot, came to a stop just a bit after and the car began shaking for a few seconds. No lights, No RPM movement... just shaking. I've been having the Carbon Build up shake with the RPM dipping and everything, so I just chalk it up to that...even though the RPM's didn't dip that time. Having the TSIB performed in a week so lets see if it happens again...

I'm leaning more toward that notion too. It's just frustrating not getting a code for the dealer to read. I've had near-stalling issues for about three years now and it's getting old.

Damn really your dealer is requiring a code to be registered for them to perform the TSIB?

I think they said they cleaned something out about two years ago. Since then, they just say they haven't been able to reproduce it. Mind you, it usually only happens once every few months, but lately it's been once a month.

The other day this happened to me. I had reversed up a small hill, put it back in drive and it shook without RPM change, as soon as i drove off it was fine. Was odd tho!

Was that due to a code they found?

Mine's going in for the Carbon Build Up TSIB too this week, likely will have to get new pistsons. Glad there's still 30k left on the CPO warranty for me.
