As far as my 19's go... no mods needed. Just keep the tire width within recommendations and you'll be fine. My tire sizes are 225/30 (f) and 265/35 (r), this is a safe tire combo so no issues at all.

I had the 20" but i went with really low offsets plus i had gotten the wrong tires and it kept rubbing and i couldnt go as low as i wanted to if u trying to slam and be safe go with the 19s, not many offset or size to choose from, but the 20" had about 4-5 different offset option. i was running 20x9.5+32 and 20x10.5+27. let me know what direction u wanna go so i can tell what i think would work....

Would like to get the 20s... W/o rolling the fenders and just lowering it so the wheel gap to about half an inch or so from wheel well to top of tire, what would be the recomended set up?

yes but nothing overkill ... I'm on F-Sport Springs. No fender Rub and no front lip scrape- works for me. Gap is minimal but present. I attribute some of that to my choice of the Hankook tires as they have such a low profile- probably due to their lesser construction (less ply's?) Example: The Michelin AV's (a far superior quality tire with much longer real world tread-wear), in an equal dimension, are noticeably taller than the hankook's and fill the gap much better.
