Glad that no one was hurt.

Keep us posted on what they have decided... There might be a slight to moderate chance that they may total it.

just wanted to give everyone a update:
So the insurance declared the car a total loss (totaled) and they are paying me cash value of the car minus my deductible
Now i need to find a new car, I would love to own another is350, so I am considering buying the car "as is" from my insurance and doing the repair myself, instead of going is350 hunting again . What do you guys think? is that worth looking into? Just trying to figure out all my options.

Glad they considered it a total loss. IMO, you should take the money and just start the search for another 350. It's not worth it to buy that car back and repair it if you ask me. I would never want a car that looked like that back again. Get into another 350 and maybe even use this as a chance to upgrade (newer model, features you didn't have, etc). Buying it back would mean you might run into issues down the road, and on top of everything, you'll be driving a car with a rebuilt/salvage title that will severely cut into its resale value later.

In the end, its all up to you though. Some people would buy it back and repair it. Just saying, I wouldn't

How would you rate your car from your point of view?
If frame, engine and air bags were damaged, I would not buy it. Too much to deal with and it may become too expensive to fix.
On the other hand, it was your car and you know how it was driving and you were probably happy with it. If no major damage other than some body work and replacing some parts, do your math and if it is worth keeping it, go for it.
Your car will be with a salvage title. Which means there will be some insurance changes as well. I believe some insurances won't do a full coverage on salvage vehicles. It they do, they will only pay about 30% of car (salvage) value if totaled again. Not too sure. You want to find out if it is a concern to you.
You won't be able to trade in your car at dealer either. No more warranty of any kind at dealer but recalls only.

Good luck

the engine and air bags are fine, but the frame was damaged. I have decided not the buy it back. Instead, im going to start looking for another IS350. What sucks is that 350s are so hard to come by, I would hate to settle for a IS250. Anyways, i want to thank everyone for the help, good wishes, and advise. This forum and its member are AWESOME!!

^ Good decision. Frame Damage = No go.

Good luck on your search for another 350!

Yup agreed. Frame damage no no. You can't tell how it behaves after the frame gets tinkered with during the repair. Example would be, welds in spots where they at not structurally at because they cut weld replacement pieces on it.

Maybe wait a bit for the 3IS to come out? Personally, I would not get into a 2IS right now since I know I will be lusting over a 3IS.

Default possible buy??

hey guys,
What do you guys think of this?
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...dSegId%3D28705

I spoke to the dealer, he still has it and from what he mentioned the car is in excellent condition. I will go check it out tomorrow and if everything checks out: like if it has no accidents, no extreme wear and tear, and if all the services have been done. I might pull the trigger on it. If everything goes great, im going to make him a offer of 23k (out the door, including dealer fees and taxes)and not a penny more. What do you guys think? thanks for the feedback.

Link is working just fine for me.

That is a GREAT price for a 2009 tho! $24K? ! I see most of the 2006/7's going for that much right now at the dealers. I would jump on that in a heart beat if anything checks out! Run the vin online on the Lexus website and check out its service history too before you buy.
