I paid 100$ for a shop to do it and it came out nicely!
IDK much about working on cars so this would be nice if you have time!

But personally, once you get that hazy film on the headlights, it's not worth worrying about that coating. I buffed my headlight lenses to remove the haze and now I just wax them every time I wax the car. Seems to work just as well.

Damn 100 bucks! thats quite a bit. But i wouldnt see anything wrong sanding it. i done pretty of times on numerous cars and the result is good. If u pay a shop to do it, this is exactly what they'll do too. I wouldnt recommend it if ur headlights are glass. The only down on this is finding a buffer range from 40 bucks and up. But u can do it when u want when needed and itll save u in the future. Here is a result on my IS, This is my headlight not a picture from the net.

there's already a sticky on this in the detailing forum. skip the wet sanding if your headlights aren't pitted.

just use plast-x and then cover with a sealant. easy enough. or you can get uv coating and recoat your headlights.

Yeah a couple things:

Lights have UV protection. Once you get it off, it'll haze even faster each time. Secondly, HID's typically haze less anyway considering they produce less heat. If anything, 2IS halogen fogs tend to haze up considerably.

But with use of plastx or any compound for that matter, you can get the same result.

I applied invisible mask (clear film) on the headlight and fog light to prevent road debris from scratching them.
