My IS is a 2011, so there may be a year difference and my battery on my keyfob is still new.

Did you try opening the trunk?
Mine is a 2008 and I just tried the above. Same result car beeped, all 4 doors locked and trunk opened right up via trunk button

maybe its a bug, when I have tried many scenarios including "accidently" dropping my key in the trunk, which I have done before on my previous car. And the trunk wont lock. The only time my car gets confuse is when both keyfob are in the proximity.

Pretty sure it works on my 2010.

I've thrown my gymbag into the trunk along with my jeans & keyfob inside a good few times. If I press on the trunk button that's next to the rear license plate, it opens the trunk.

Perhaps it depends on how far inside the trunk the keyfob is? Or like others said it could be a bug fix for newer 2IS.

Our 07 IS350 allows you to pop the trunk with the exterior button if you leave the key in the trunk and the doors are locked. As mentioned above, the car beeps to let you know the keys are in it when you close the trunk.

Is there a possibility that the OP forgot to use his trunk button?

If you lock your trunk with the switch next to the glove box first, and then you lock your fob inside the trunk, you are SOL. Nothing will open and the car will not start unless you use another fob or the metal key. Unless you break your car like our comrade did.

I have an 07 and locked my FOB in the trunk and was about to call a locksmith, then felt around the back license plate area for a button and found one, and the trunk opened.... Saved me some money that day....

I realized this when i threw my gym bag with keys in the trunk. Luckily i was home and just had to run downstairs to get the spare. Still a lot better then when i would forget my accord keys in the ignition and would have to bump the key lock to open it.

No response from the OP, looks like he forgot to try the truck button and felt to embarrassed to respond. At least AAA got some business!

Forgot about the manual realease button on trunk. I bet!! Technology has spoiled us so much. We forget about the manual features existing in our cars.
