This would also make sence to me as the rings would need to be gapped as no two cylinder bores are the same.
The average person would not know this. This is a rather expensive fix I'm sure, and is a permanent one. But new pistons in a semi-worn cylinder bore with new rings is better than not; I'm sure the piston to wall clearances are far too bad that it's creating excessive slap.

I do hope though that my 350 never needs such a repair.

Just picked up my car today after the repair. Before the pistons and other parts were replaced the car does in fact idle very rough and poor, mine is a 2010 with 45k miles I purchased it with only 5 miles. With that said, after the parts were replaced the car idles and drives very smooth and the throttle is a lot more responsive. If anyone needs this TSB done in Nor Cal, feel free to PM me I can refer you to the best advisor ever (guarantee approval)

Got my 250 back today, and they did replaced rings and pistons, head gaskets, and some other engine kit and fresh new oil. Car runs really smooth, and it run and feel's like brand new on a 50,000 mile chassis. We'll see after driving it 500 miles. Thanks everyone for your input on this issue, again, this is not over yet!!! For now the problem is fixed and hopefully no more!

I had the rings replaced a little over two months ago. I have had the same issue arise a few times since then. I my vehicle, the problems got worse. Before the rings were replaced, It happen about every other month. After rings replaced, about every three weeks. I have more power on the high end, but the low end has less power than before. Also, I had a three mpg decrease on average since the repair. Same driving as before. I really wish I never had it done.

Im not happy so far, i still feel the rough idle! But runs smooth except when your stop you can feel the idle is not smooth. Will return to dealer soon and have them check why idle is rough. The ring and pistons were replaced!

I had them same thing. Bought it to Lexus, which in turn REFUSED to touch the vehicle because they were not the original dealer that worked on the car. All they found were a couple pending P0300 random misfire codes. Told me to return to the other dealer to have them look at it.

Take it back to who worked on it the first time. It is not a Lexus warranty issue now, it is a lexus dealership who worked on it comback warranty issue.
