Header seals? I dont think you need to remove the headers in order to replace spark plugs. However, you might need to get a new intake manifold gasket if you plan on removing it. Good luck. Tell us how it went.

P.S. Dont forget to use anti-seize compound on the plug threads. Aluminum heads are soft and cross threading them is a big no-no.

250?

350?

Not sure about a 250 but with the 350, no need to remove anything other than the air intake tube and some of the bolts holding a couple wire harnesses in place for easier access. I just did mine this last weekend and I was done in under two hours. Only problem I had was the spark plug socket kept coming off inside the spark plug hole after I torqued them down so I just taped it to the socket extension, problem solved.

250 gotta remove the Manifold I believe....altho I read on My.is that someone was able to remove the spark plugs by just using the right tools and simply loosening the manifold.

For me, A torque wrench would be a must when doing stuff like the spark plugs.

Gotta make sure you're torquing everything to spec!

Autozone or one of the chain auto parts stores around you will usually loan you out one for a day. Go ask. I'd say for spark plugs, yes, be sure to properly torque. It helps to set the correct depth into the cylinder.

SUCCESS!! although it took me 3 n half hrs. i went at a slow pace to make sure i covered everything. put everything back together. i would say the hardest part for me is torquing the plug. first time using a torque wrench hoping i set it right. put everythhing back together started the car, it started for secs than it died. i waited bout 30 secs then started it again and it was up. i took it for a test drive around the block and then on the freeway. no rough idling, seem to pick up better. i believe its the first time since the care was changed, when i viewed the repair log from lexus. the good knews is no malfunction light is "on". the only thing is when i turn the car off i can hear a air sucking noise dont know if thats normal. ill drive it for couple days and see if it goes away. But overall it wasnt hard just time consuming taking all those crap off. Thanks everyone for the help!!!

The air "sucking noise" sounds like there is a leak in the intake system. Maybe you there is a sensor or hose that got loose? Other than that, congratulations.

Man, I would have done it for you for 1/2 that! Parts are only $80 and it took me under two hours for my first try. I could probably do it in under an hour now. Dealers are such a rip off!

yea lexus quote me 500 something, so i decided to do it myself. i spent a good 120 dollars sparks plug plus a few tool i didnt have. will be much faster and easier next time. i think they purposely design the car like this so they get all the service.
