I put in about 4,000 miles on the car while in TX in about a year. I put in the rest of the miles after I moved to PR in late 2006. I don't use the car as often, mostly because I usually take the Toyota Highlander to go out with my family, and my job provides me with a company car to travel when I'm working.

Thank you JohnLX300 for posting. My dash is worse than the picture in the TSIB but my VIN # is not amongst the effected vehicles. Come Monday it will be! But then the next battle will be fighting the warranty. These goobers at Lexus knew there was a problem but they were hoping that it wouldn't show up until warranty expired. I might as well have bought a @#$%!!!!!!! So mad I'm eating through an entire bag of veggie chips!!!!

My car is a 2006 with 51xxx miles. I have the extended warranty and whenever I'm inside the car and lean my elbow on the door, it starts making this creaking sound. Is this related? And can I use this TSIB?

Update: I finally got Lexus corporate to get the dealership to do something with my melting dashboard after nearly 9 plus months of wrangling with them. Because a TSB was released about the problems with melting dashboards, corporate has agreed to go half and half with me even though I'm out of warranty. Corporate also managed to get the service manager to straighten up and fly right since he would not return calls or acknowledge the pictures I sent. Its been nearly 3 business days and finally I've been notified its ready for pickup. Will post update on the final cost of replacement. I will give the dealership this one caveat: they at least gave me a loaner car. I uploaded pictures of my dash. Lots of fibers in the dash that couldn't be wiped clean because it now was a part of the dash.

That's really bad! I hope mine doesn't turn like that. Right now I can easily scratch my dash or take off a chunk if I accidentally bump it with anything sharp. It also smears if there's enough friction.

I know there are multiple threads about this issue - I downloaded and printed the TSIB. I have a 2007 IS 250 with 66,000 miles on it - live in Florida. My dash was pretty bad - one melted area with embedded fibers from a rag that basically touched it. It easily scratches and gouges.

I took to my local lexus dealer - they took photos and sent to corporate. Corporate said they would pay for part and I paid for labor (about $400) which I agreed to. I thought it wasn't bad considering past warranty and the TSIB states not past 50K miles.

I'm just looking forward to having a clean, new dashboard that doesn't melt!!
